If you didn't attend the Signing Day Sota Social, you need to watch about 4-5 minutes of it. I hope the link I provide below works. From about the 13 or 14 minute mark or so until Coach Kill finishes speaking. Mental attitude, mental toughness, and having the right attitude and thought process makes such a difference in life. Coach Kill, his staff, and these players deserve for the community to heed and embrace what he felt so important to do at the Sota Social tonight.

One last side note, when Coach Kill mentioned that his staff has been together the longest of any in the entire nation and the Gopher Fans in attendance didn't applaud that, embarrassing. Just flat out embarrassing, and if people don't get that, then they'll never get it. I had to say it, it just stood out so clearly to me. We need the fans like those on Gopher Hole to do as much as we can to lead the excitement, belief, and positivity! F the naysayers!!!

Come on. Part of the problem was that the sound system was so terrible that most people couldn't hear a damn thing that was said the whole night.

Don't ever say that Gopherholers "lead". We participate in somewhat of a "discussion" of some kind on an odd social/anti-social level. That's what a board is.

People that attend events, buy tickets, and contribute to the program with service and donations "lead".

That said, you're right, none of the 400 people in attendance clapped, so I guess neither did you. Just sayin'.

I thought it was a very poorly run event. I miss the coach talking about each individual player as their highlight reel is being played. There was a total "dead period" between 6:00 PM and about 6:30 PM and then they bring Coach Kill out for about 12 minutes and rush him downstairs for a dinner with the big boosters. A friend of mine at our table bought an autographed football in the silent auction for about $250 I think and they gave it to him "un-signed" and now he has to track down the Coach to get his signature on it. Last year there were around 800 people in attendance...this year about 400. If the format stays the same, my guess is they will have less than 300 next year and start wonder what has happened. Also, WHERE WAS OUR A.D.? I have been coming to these events for many a year and Teague has been here since last June and I have yet to meet him, or hear him in person. Is he avoiding events with "the common fan" and only hobnobbing with the elite boosters? I thought he could have given a very short greeting to the fans, at the very least.

Can i get an applause too?

Oh and just in case Jerry's feelings were hurt....here's his applause

I brought my 83 year old Grandpa (biggest Gopher fan I know - the Gophers do not do anything wrong through his eyes) and my 57 year old dad. We have gone the last three years. We left saying, is that it? It was over before it even started. There was more dead time than action going on.

To the no applause comment, it didn't seem like an appropriate time to interrupt Coach Kill in my opinion. It is impressive and an important step, but he was in the middle of a story also.

Did you applaud?

Sure as the heck would have if I didn't live in AZ! Appreciate the things we do have. I don't think there is even a close second in regards to longevity of staff. I've settled down now but watching the video it seemed like the crowd was asleep. Kill was trying to fire Gopher fans up! Trying to instill some pride, belief, and enthusiasm.

Thanks for the comments because I wasn't there. I'm a fan from afar. Hopefully those that were disappointed can share their thoughts and suggestions/ideas with the AD and others, including coach Kill (email works). That's what they want us to do, at least Coach Kill does. As for Gopher Holers leading, I'm assuming these ARE a lot of hard core fans and exactly the type of audience Coach Kill was addressing! No, not everyone on here is a true hardcore fan, but a lot are, and those are the one's I'm talking about. Just wanted to share that for those who didn't see it.

I wasn't at the event last night but based on the comments here and in some other places it does sound like it fell kind of flat. Brewester turned the signing day social into a big event, Mason had one but it wasn't a big production until Brewster took over. Could be a case of the staff not really emphasizing the event as much as the pervious staff leading to the decline in the overall experience.

Maturi gets ripped for spending too much time with the common man and Teague gets ripped for spending too much time with the elite boosters.

I'd guess Teague wasn't there because he was busy finalizing Shaka Smart's contract. If you read the BB board, it's obvious that Tubby should have been fired yesterday and Smart just can't wait to take the U job.

Teague was there earlier doing a bit with Barrero on KFAN and then left. Why on earth would the athletic dept. schedule a booster dinner downstairs at the same time as the Sota Social! totally unacceptable.

Let it be true!
