Could Richard Pitino Bring a Star Forward to Minnesota?

** Jonathan Holton is a FIU commit, currently finishing up at Palm Beach State; should be eligible to play D1 this fall **

...Minnesota loses front line seniors Trevor Mbakwe and Rodney Williams, but returns its three starting guards in 2013-14. Power forward is a position of need for next year’s team and Pitino could potentially deliver in a major way....

...Jonathan Holton is a dominant rebounder and has a versatile offensive game. As a freshman at Rhode Island he averaged 10 points and 8 rebounds per game. This season at Palm Beach State he was the NJCAA D1 rebounding leader (14 per game) and averaged more than 17 points per contest.

At 6’9” and able to operate in the paint, Holton also has the ability to step out behind the arc. He attempted more than 100 3-pointers this season and made 40% of them....

Tubby was recruiting him as well. Did he ever visit?

Interesting. Sounds like he would be a great get.

You're thinking Kevin Thomas, who is still uncommitted... now we're talking Jonathan Holton, his teammate at Palm Beach State, who is committed to FIU. LEGIT.

You should have mentioned he was an FIU commit in your original post. Now I see why you are bringing him up.

GW: are you just hungry for more Miami-Dade court drama or what?

I think under these circumstances, you give Holton a chance at Minnesota if he wants it.

It would be a NICE addition to the 2013-14 team. Really big.

Hate to say it about a current player, but I can't imagine Mo fits in at all in this system. I imagine the writing will be on the wall for Big Mo, he can stay and sit or transfer. This kid makes sense as a replacement for Mo.

Hey I dont disagree, he definitely fits a need. Just thought that was a very interesting / unusual note about the kid (and relevant given we have had some issues keeping guys on the basketball court)

Quite a jump from a FIU recruit to Big ten....the question is why did he not accept or acquire high major offers prior to is FIU Commitment

Huge Mo and EE combined are a double-double. He's not going anywhere.

His very recent criminal past, I'm guessing.
