There's been some discussion here about future fields for exempt tournaments like the Maui, Old Spice, Battle 4 Atlantis, etc. Here's some information found at Chris Dobbertean's excellent blog site, http://www.bloggingthebracket.com/

What we know about 2012 exempt tournaments:

Anaheim 76 Classic (7 teams TBD): Kansas

Battle 4 Atlantis: Duke, Louisville, Memphis, MINNESOTA, Mizzou, Northern Iowa, Stanford, VCU. On paper, it appears the Battle has a field at least the equal of the Maui.

Charleston Classic (1 team TBD): Baylor, Boston College, College of Charleston, Colorado, Dayton, St. John's, Southern Illinois.

Diamond Head Classic (1 team TBD): Arizona, Miami-Florida, Hawaii, Ole Miss, San Diego State, San Francisco, Texas Tech.

Hall of Fame Tip-Off (4 others TBD): Ohio State, Rhode Island, Seton Hall, Wazzu.

Las Vegas Invitational (4 others TBD): Arizona State, Arkansas, Creighton, Wisconsin.

Maui Invitational: Butler, Chaminade, Illinois, Marquette, Mississippi State, North Carolina, Texas, USC.

NIT Season Tip-Off (12 teams TBD): Cleveland State, Michigan, Pitt, Virginia. This could be tweaked if Pitt gets into the ACC a year ahead of schedule.

Old Spice Classic: Clemson, Davidson, Gonzaga, Marist, Oklahoma, UTEP, Vandy, West Virginia. This one also could be tweaked if West Virginia gets into the Big 12 a year early.

Paradise Jam: George Mason, Iona, Mercer, New Mexico, Quinnipiac, UConn, UIC, Wake Forest. The Jam will implement a new format next season. Instead of an 8-team bracket, all teams now will be guaranteed 4 games. There will be 4-team pools, playing each team once within your pool, with the final game a crossover vs. a team from the other pool.

South Padre Island Invitational (7 others TBD): Illinois State.

And for the Gophers in 2013:

Maui Invitational: Arkansas, Baylor, Cal, Chaminade, Dayton, Gonzaga, MINNESOTA, Syracuse.
