Any ideas who will be redshirted?

I think most of the freshman will be RS.

I imagine all of the LB prospects will RS and probably all of the OL prospects (if there are a lot of injuries again, maybe not, in which case I'd guess Campion would be the first one to lose his RS).

I guess I could see one of the TE prospects not RS (Rohr or Goodger), just because Kill likes to use multiple sets and we play a lot of those kinds of players (multiple TEs and an H-Back). We have a couple talented SRs at TE, but there is a good chance for Goodger or Rohr to start in 2012, so I could see one of them seeing some PT.

I also wouldn't be shocked to see Vereen RS, especially if Osunde stays committed, and we don't lose anyone else. We would have decent depth there without him (Carter, Osunde, Henderson, Bouie, Stoudermire and some of the walk on guys). It would make sense because he was essentially forced to play last season because of lack of depth.

I could also see Manuel being considered to RS under a few circumstances. First, we'd have to see how good D. Crawford is, Royston would have to be given a 6th year, and we'd have to stay injury free. I think there is an absolute chance of this if Cooper gets moved to safety (not advocating anything, just saying).

If we have Royston, Watkins, C. Lewis, D. Crawford, J. Johnson, Salamon, and even Pride....I could see Manuel being considered. The hard thing is that he might be the 2nd best safety of that bunch.

Would that include the Juco students?

No the Juco students are here to play now and have some impact if possible. They will not be redshirted

I like Shady, but there is no point listing him as a safety, because he can't play there based on all info to date.

Nope, you are 100% correct. I just listed him as a 4th safety because he would be playing special teams and could line up there in absolute emergency situations. If it comes to a point where Shady will have to play much, we will likely burn whatever RS we would have been towards.

If we didn't have enough guys who could play special teams (like Shady) we couldn't over RS either.

But you're point is 100% correct, Shady will not be getting many snaps at S.

I did not mean that as a shot at your post, I appreciate the detail you added. Do you have any insight on positions changes?

No, I didn't take it that way. It was a valid point.

No, I am not 100% sure how much we will know before the spring. I did see on some obscure posting from a scout board that K. Cooper was listed at Free Safety. I have no idea how accurate that is though.

I'm interested to see what they do with Bennett. I could see him playing that slot position (also got a lot of rushes in end around situations) with how depleted our WR corps is.

The whole Edwards thing will be interesting, and i'm kind of curious to see what we do at DE. It just has been such a staple in everywhere that Kill has been (and even referenced it during his press conference) that they like to get really fast DEs and a lot of them were recruited RBs, QBs, WRs, and LBs. It'll be interesting to see if we move anyone to DE as well.
