2011-2012 Record

I know for certain that we won't be 5-8.

See the other thread on this topic for the answer to the question of why we won't play 13 games with a losing record.

I don't know, but it will be somewhere between 0-12 and 14-0. A record of 5-8 is impossible.

Actually, after thinking about it, I think 5-8 is possible, albeit extremely unlikely.

If we lose our 4 non-conference games, we are at 0-4.
If we lose all the games outside our division, we are 0-7.
If we win all the games in our division, we are at 5-7, and winning the division.
Then we make it to the conference title game, and lose, putting us at 5-8, and probably the first team ever to be runner up for the conference title and yet not make a bowl game.

The record inside and outside the division only matters if we're tied with someone else for the division lead. And I can't look it up right now, but it's something like the 3rd or 4th tiebreaker.

Going 5-8 is theoretically possible, but impossible in actuality because 5-3 will never be good enough to win the division, especially in a case where you went 0-4 in the non-conference.

Speaking of tie breakers for the conference championship game, are we going the BCS rankings route unless within one then head to head deal like the Big XII or what? Have they even announced it?

And on the matter, have they even released the names of the divisions yet?

Conservative Picks 2011-2012
@USC Loss (Close game)
New Mexico State (Win)
Miami, Ohio (Win)
North Dakota St. (Win)
@Michigan (Loss)
@Purdue (Win)
Nebraska (Loss)
Iowa (Loss)
@Michigan State (Loss)
Wisconsin (Loss)
@Northwestern (Win)
Illinois (Win)

6-6.

I think they could potentially win 9. Iowa, Michigan State, and Michigan are winnable if Jerry Brought a defense with him.
