20 Game BT Conference Season? - ESPN article

I like it if for no other reason but to get conference play underway sooner.

would love to play the big ten west double round robin every year with the big ten east once.

That'd be 19 games.
You could have fewer home games the opposite of the fewer home football games.

Play seven teams twice six once. Have a protected rival and rotate the other six

Like the idea except also protect three rivals three out of four years. The number one protect is and always should be while they are continuing to win is Wisconsin. At least one of the other two is Iowa. Third maybe Michigan State.

Zero reason to have divisional play involved in basketball.

Zero reason to have divisional play involved in basketball.

Reduced travel expenses and time would be reasons for divisional play, not just in hoops but all Big 10 sports. It will be even more important when the conference expands to 16-20 teams.

All teams which have not won the conference in twenty years get 2 games per year against Rutgers.
All teams who have won the conference 2 of more times in past twenty years play each of the other conference champs twice. This applies to Purdue, Indiana, MSU, OSU, Wisconsin and Illinois.

Border rivalries get saved for 2x per year. (Iowa, Wisconsin and Michigan)

Sample gopher schedule:

Michigan State
Wisconsin x 2
Purdue
Ohio State
Illinois
Indiana
Rutger x 2
Iowa x2
Nebraska x2
Penn State x2
Michigan x2
Maryland x2
Northwestern

I'd take this schedule.
