2 point conversion chart

I was disappointed when I read this, because there is no mention of what to do when a team is ahead by 25.

Its a nice chart, but I still like Jimmy Johnson's draft day trade chart better.

Why would somebody go for 2 if they are trailing by 1? Seems to me that you'd want to tie the game.

This chart is fundamentally flawed in that it doesn't take into account the time remaining in the game. I'd go for 2 down by 1 on the road with :50 left in a road game where I'm the underdog, but I wouldn't do that in a home game down 7-6 with 8:25 remaining in the first quarter.

Any type of chart like this is useless without taking those factors into account.

Keep in mind that this chart was created by a college coach before OT existed at that level, so it made sense to play for the win rather than the tie.

I would assume it is a starting point especially for late in the game. No place did it say "follow mindlessly".

Exactly, it seems this would fit with the pre-OT college mindset and/or current NFL mindset that you always go for one unless it's late in the game.

What does the Les Miles two point conversion chart look like?

But a tie is still better than a loss, even in the pre-overtime era.

As dpodoll says, it all depends on the situation, but I just found it odd.
