The BTN will announce the selections Monday.

Only one comment. It'll be highway robbery if Tim Frazier isn't on the 1st team and Jordan Taylor is. Frazier should not be punished for playing on a crappy team. He's been fantastic and -- though Taylor has come on of late -- he hasn't been as consistent or productive as Frazier.

My first team, with no limitations on the positions they play (doesn't have to be 2 G's, 2 F's, 1C). ...

Burke, Michigan
Frazier, Penn State
Green, Michigan State (Player of the Year)
Shurna, Northwestern
Sullinger, Ohio State

I wouldn't cry if Zeller or Hummel get picked ahead of Sullinger (will never happen) or if Taylor or Gatens get selected ahead of Burke.

I'm not sold on Frazier. He benefits statistically from being on a bad team.

I'd probably replace Frazier with Buford.

In a way it feels like SUllinger hasn't done enough to merit it, but that's measuring him against himself last year. Based on overall comparison against everyone esle THIS year, you have to put him in there.

add zeller and hummel for frazier and burke. Taylor lost some coin coming back for his senior year

Too bad for William Buford and Brandon Paul that the B1G season is as long as it is. A few weeks ago, both may have had a shot to make it.

I'd take out Burke (great freshman year, but not all conf 1st team) and Frazier (bad shooting numbers & I have an unfair (?) gripe with tiny guards who can't hit a 21 foot shot, although his usage is tremendous).

In go Jordan Taylor and Robbie Hummel.

I would trade Buford for Frazier straight up without hesitation. Buford had a good night against the Gophers, but is very inconsistent.

I would have Hummel on there instead of Burke.

The gripe must play a big role if those are your two reasons, because Taylor and Hummel don't exactly have great shooting numbers themselves.

They don't have great shooting numbers, but substantially better than Frazier. Combine that with the fact they can score from more places on the floor and the difference is sizable.

.....eFG% 3PM 3P%
RH 48.0% 59 35.8%
JT 47.4% 48 34.5%
TF 45.1% 22 28.2%

Nonetheless, the bad shooting and gripe are more reasons why I wouldn't be close to considering Frazier for 1st team, more than a comparison to RH & JT specifically.

Besides the fact Robbie & Jordan shoot 6.4% and 5.1% better from the field, respectively, than Frazier, the difference in turnover frequency is enormous. Frazier's numbers are fine with respect to turnovers, but RH and JT are extraordinarily good at taking care of the ball.

Fts don't count? I think true shooting percentage would be a more fair comparison. They're still slightly better in that regard, but Frazier also scores significantly more points. Let's be honest, he needs to take a ton of shots for that team, so I think it's expected that he'd have a slightly lower true shooting percentage. And yes, it doesn't help that he can't shoot threes. I'd say turnovers are what slightly separate Taylor from Frazier, not efficiency. Also, FWIW, Frazier's PER is significantly higher than Taylor's.

Appreciate the comments. Not to get too into this because I don't have four weeks to go through it, but:

* Yep, Taylor vs. Frazier, turnovers are a huge difference. Again, my initial comments on Frazier's poor shooting and inability to hit three-pointers were more a comment on him, not a comparison to Jordan Taylor or any other player.
* True shooting percentage is fine to look at. But, I do look at eFG% and FT% separately far more often than I do TS%.
* PER - I don't care for it and frankly never look at it for college players.

Fair enough. I'm curious to know why you look at eFG% and FT% separately (as opposed to just looking at TS%), because I recall you being more concerned with fts made than ft% (although I could be misremembering).

I'm not a huge fan of PER either (I actually can't stand Hollinger's refusal to accept that not every facet of a player's game can be measured in stats); it was more to point out that Frazier is "more efficient" than Jordan Taylor by some measures. I'm not sure it's fair to call him an inefficient scorer and not Taylor, but I do agree that Taylor has been more impressive because of his ability to commit so few turnovers.

Frazier
Sullinger
Green
Shurna
Leonard

personally I don't care for Leonard but I thinkhe makes the team based on stats Hummel will be sentimental favorite because of injuries but he wasn't the same player this year.

I'd put Mbakwe in there for what he would have done this year....... I guess I'm just not over it yet.
