1st possession of the game and the turnover on downs

It was 2nd and 6, and from the sound of it, we knew we weren't going to be kicking field goals at that position of the field. Since we already knew we'd be going for it on 4th, and we'd had some decent success running at that point, why the he!! wouldn't we just run it 3 times?? Instead we have Weber try to complete 3 intermediary throws, and I think we all know how those 5-10 ys routes go with Weber. Just another example of cluelessness. I just couldn't believe we'd give it to Weber 3 times in a row there......

At this point I knew it was going to be the same old story

I recall Timmy stating last week that the Gophers had to get to the 30 to kick the game winning FG. Funny, they got there several times yesterday but went for it on 4th down instead, including on their opening possession. Isn't it amazing the softballs Brew provides to show his lunacy.....

If Ellestad is *that* bad a kicker (and it seems he is), to the point where he can't be trusted to attempt a field goal unless it's 35 yards or shorter, then why is he on the team? We seriously can't get a more reliable kicker than that?

I agree Sonny, there are multiple times where we don't really seem to be thinking more than 1 step at a time. I recall thinking the exact same thing, we have 3 downs to pick up 6 yards, and those plays made absolutely no sense to me.

It just seems like way too often with this staff we are playing checkers instead of chess.
