The 1981 Minnesota vs Iowa game was played in front of an electrical Iowa City crowd. Hayden Fry's turnaround had Iowa ranked #6 nationally with a 5-1 record and impressive upsets of Nebraska and Michigan. The Gophers came in at 4-2 just suffering a disappointing 1 point loss to Indiana the week before. Behind a strong defensive performance and 4 Jim Gallery field goals, the last one coming with 2:22 left on the clock, the Gophers silenced and stunned the Iowa crowd and kept Floyd for the 4th straight year. I drove straight through the night from college in Massachusetts to witness that game. One of my all-time favorite Gopher wins. Let's do it again Gophers!!!
