Sincerely Captain Studwell, you guys are heroes, thanks.

Draft number was 300+ so I didn't have to serve.
My cousin Billy was killed in a car accident while serving but otherwise a whole lot of relatives served but they all came back alive.

Brother served in Germany during Viet Nam.
5 Uncles and 3 Cousins who were WW2 vets. They served in Italy, France, on a heavy cruiser in the Pacific and behind enemy lines with Merrill's Marauders.
Lucky Uncle Lynn went from an enlisted man to officer the tail end of WW2 but didn't get overseas until the war ended. Later he was stationed in Japan but at the end of the Korean Conflict and he retired 1975 without being sent to Viet Nam.
My Dad was a civilian diver at Pearl Harbor, lost a thumb so he couldn't get in, but he certainly was of service to his country during it's time of need.

Though they told stories of their war time experiences, very seldom did these stories talk about the fighting.

Thanks to everybody who served.

I have an absolute sincere respect for those who serve(d) our country! We tend to put athletes on fairly high pedestal but what they have done for our country now and in the past is dwarfed by those who serve it and put their lives on the line for those of us back home here in the US! God bless those who have served and are currently serving our nation!!!
