1. It the only game we play this week
2. BEAT IOWA!!!!!!
3. Keeps our winning mojo going
4. Get more season tickets sold
5. We would reach 5-0
6. It Sends Iowa into a tailspin
7. It helps us in recruiting.
8. Floyd is happier here.
9. We go into the bye week on a roll.
10. Bragging Rights for another year.
 

That's only nine reasons... eight if you count 2 and 10 as the same.
 

Outside of the obvious benefits to the program of being 5-0 we need to win in order to keep the fan excitement up. A loss will kill any momentum heading into home coming and have a negative impact on attendance at the Northwestern game. Shouldn't be that way but we have all seen the story play out way to many times in Minnesota. We lose on Saturday the casual fan says "same old Gophers" and goes back to stressing about the Vikings.

The bye week comes at a great time for the team in terms of rest and health but it comes at a terrible time for the fan base as even with a win it will be tough to keep people excited during layoff between games and a loss will make us an afterthought as far as the media is concerned.
