That was something my buddies and I took note of at the game. Gray didn't take off right away, but even so, the play took 11 seconds. It gave a good frame of reference for us mere mortals.

It was interesting listening to Mike Grim make the call on the radio later. I was as fooled as he was about Gray keeping it. Probably the most important part of the play was that Gray paused before taking off; he let the play develop. This might be the best sign of improvement that I saw all day!
 

Yesterday in the NFL, Thigpen from Miami returned a punt for 72 yards, and it was just about 10 seconds from the time he receives the ball to the time he crosses the goal line. It was pretty much straight ahead right after he grabs the ball, no hesitation (like Gray) to confuse the defense.

So obviously, Gray has lost a step.
