Gophers athletics director Mark Coyle sat down with our Darren 'Doogie' Wolfson to discuss many topics, including how his three years in charge have gone, football coach P.J. Fleck, men's hoops coach Richard Pitino and his recent contract extension, women's hoops coach Lindsay Whalen, and much more.

Coyle also touched on the long-term viability of 91-year-old Williams Arena, and what he knows about incoming president Joan Gabel (she starts on July 1).

Coyle, overall, loves the direction that his athletic department is heading. He feels that there is finally stability both in leadership positions, and with his coaches. He noted that Pitino, who's been here six years, has worked for three ADs. Coyle has also hired a few coaches, including Fleck, Whalen, and men's hockey leader Bob Motzko and he's overseen bringing in a number of senior administrators.

Alternate answer would be that Coyle hates the direction the athletic department is heading.... seems kind unlikley.
