While we'll pass Ohio State, I fear Gonzaga passes us. 3 road wins in a week...

If Seth Davis and Joe Lunardi's ballots are any indication, you're right.

I have a hard time believing we aren't the same ranking at number 9 next week. A win over #18 is not usually a sign of falling in the rankings.

Our only hope is that all of the people who were doubting us (ie Jay Bilas) before the MSU game suddenly jump on the bandwagon because of that win (and a blow out against Northwestern). We have a great opportunity to jump in to the top 5 after this next week if we go 2-0.:)

Seth davis moved us up 8 spots in his poll this week. He was waiting to see how we did against msu. If there are many others like him we could actually move up a couple.

I agree, but the point is the Zags may hold us back from jumping to 8

The Gopher's will control what they can control. Just keep winning, and rest will take care of itself.

I gotcha now. Ya, it'll be interesting to see where we wind up. I always look forward to Monday afternoon now. It's fun to go over the rankings when you're actually in them.

Win thee next two @ Illinois & Indiana and we'll be top five. These things take care of themselves.

The Gophers were already ranked higher than Illinois. They'll jump Ohio State to 8.

I know it's just wishful thinking on my part, but man, can you imagine the energy on a Thirsty Thursday night at the Barn if it ends up being a one-loss Gopher team taking on the undefeated Wolverines.

Very well could be #2 against #3 at that point too. Be pretty fun!

I'm more interested in our RPI and then NCAA seed than the AP poll. Fun to see a single digit number by our name though.

O Rly?

Why not just say that you are more interested in our end of the season result than the AP poll...

Gophers dropped a spot in the RPI over the weekend (from #6 to #7). Their overall strength of schedule currently is #10 in the country.

North Dakota State (#45) currently is best nonconference RPI win, while Memphis (#59) continues to climb the RPI charts.

Also #8 in the AP Poll and front page of NCAAM page

Keep it going guys. Two huge games coming up.

Gophers back on the front of ESPN NCAA Men's Basketball Page. This seems to be a weekly trend.

I would definitely be happy with 13-5. Their projected standings have Indiana and Michigan at 14-4, but Minnesota finishing with the top RPI from the conference:

http://www.rpiforecast.com/confs/B10.html

Their confidence in our remaining games (based on Sagarin, from easiest to hardest):

1. vs Penn State (+22.7)
2. vs Nebraska (+21.9)
3. @ Nebraska (+14.3)
4. vs Iowa (+11.4)
5. @ Purdue (+9.9)
6. vs Illinois (+9.7)
7. @ Northwestern (+9.2)
8. vs Wisconsin (+8.2)
9. @ Iowa (+3.8)
10. vs Michigan (+2.2)
11. @ Illinois (+2.1)
12. vs Indiana (+0.7)
13. @ Wisconsin (+0.6)
14. @ Michigan State (+0.4)
15. @ Ohio State (-2.3)
16. @ Indiana (-6.9)

So if you believe this we have 8 "should win" games, 7 tossups, and 1 "should lose" game (@ IU). First tossup of the conference season comes up on Wednesday night in Champaign.
