Horrible coaching decisions, play-calling and execution today. They have to beat either Purdue or Illinois to avoid this fate. Shortell is not a division 1 QB and Gray cannot execute a passing game, so I hope to God Nelson is a stud. I dont know what was more miserable today, sitting through the rain or watching our offense.

not even worth a legit response. this team will NOT go 0-8 in big ten play. that you even think that makes me question you more than our team. you are way off base in your thinking.

Don't see us winning in Camp Randall next week especially if Gray reinjured his ankle. Doubtful we beat Michigan or win in Lincoln either.

So that leaves home games against Purdue and Michigan State and a road game at Illinois as the winnable games left on the schedule.

Purdue is struggling big time right now so we may have a good shot against them in 2 weeks. Tough to say what frame of mind MSU will be in at the end of the season but they don't seem to have a QB at the moment. Illinois has been terrible to date, hopefully it continues. I think we win at least one of these games but right now I wouldn't put down money on any of them.

i will put my money on all three of them. and possible a fourth. i believe this team is going to come back strong next week and going forward. the key will be if gray can continue to play going forward.

Seriously, gopherinpain, enough. Just stop it. You started this same thread last week. There's reasons to be negative about this team, but enough of these stupid threads from you after every loss. By the way, nice moniker. Just go away, or at least stop the nonsense hyperbole.

this right here. a lot of hyperbole from some of the usual suspects. completely over-the-top hyperbole which i don't doubt is simply looking for reactions.

this team may very well go 0-8 in conference. it certainly isn't out of the realm of possiblity.

Did you enjoy the Iowa game and today? Next week will be a blowout. The only point of my thread is Illinois and Purdue are the only winnable games left. This offense cannot score on anybody and in college football you have to be able to put up points. I hope next year with Nelson or whomever they execute Kill's/Limegrover's offense better than this.

I'm expecting the Gophers to win a couple, but it won't be easy. We would have won today with Gray. Why is that super talents like Gray and Decker have to miss so many games with injuries? Agree with critics of Limegrover - why so few passes to tight ends and running backs; no misdirection, screen passes - and all those low percentage long throws. It's hard to see Shortell in there next year if he can't pass better than 50%.

it certainly is out of the realm of possibility. completely out of the realm. not even in the same neighborhood of the realm.

There is nothing off base with that thinking. He's annoyingly negative all the time, but if they play like they did the last two weeks, they may not win a game in conference. I doubt they will be favored in a single game left this season.

I'm not defending the product on the field. The last two games sucked. I'm calling you out for these horse**** threads after every loss. Nobody on GH is happy about these last two games. You just seem to be the only one inclined to start a thread about how this team can't complete in the B1G after each loss. Trust me, that doesn't mean you're holding the team to some higher standard or the rest of us are content with mediocrity. It just means you're enough of a d-bag to flame with these threads, and you just need to stop.

you hit the nail on the proverbial head. +1

Its a free country and I can state my opinion, you dont like it, dont read my posts.

that is all true. but all he is asking for is a bit more substance in some of your posts. not posts that come off almost entirely as pure flaming and baiting. a little critical thought versus just team/player/coach bashing and sky is falling hyperbole.

I like most, believed for the season to be successful the gophers needed to win 4 to 5 games. The season has been successful...stop torchering yourselves.

To his credit, gopherinpain did start a thread last year after Minnesota lost 58-0 at Michigan and 45-17 at Purdue and guaranteed Minnesota would beat Iowa and Illinois and give Michigan State all they could handle.

I did?? ;)

30 plus years of misery has tainted me for good I guess.

I'm in for the bet where you win if Minnesota wins all three games you're referring to. PM me with what you're willing to bet. Good luck!

If the team does go 0-8 in the BIG there is no way this can be considered a successful season. Bare minimum we need to equal last seasons BIG win total of 2. Surpassing last years win total overall means nothing if at the end of the day none of those wins came against conference opponents and only one of them came against a BCS school.

There is still a half a season to be played but if we end with 4-5 wins I would not consider this season a success.

Why? There was a reason this team wasn't considered a bowl team coming into the season. Folks got to high on this team the first game and to low the last game.

Case in point: Some people (you know who you are) were actually pontificating if Wells was as good or better than the best S in gopher history (T. Carter).....after one game against....New Hamshire! I love the kid and he yet may prove to be a worthy comparison...but come on!

Coach Kill knows what he's doing. Aside from how we scheme our d-line (one day they will realize you have to keep the o-line off the backers...at this level of football) I have complete faith, you can't take short cuts just to win this season. This team is being built for a QB who can run and pass; we don't have that QB yet. We do but he is being red shirted. I'm a Shortel guy; this kid could be a big time QB in a traditional offense (please transfer you're being wasted) but this isn't that type of offense. Coach will correctly stay the course...he has to have his team ready for 2014.

Having not seen much of this team, but knowing how Gopher football invariably turns out by the end of the season, here is what I see. The team is crummy. We can all look at the schedule, examine where the struggles have been positionally, and complain about the coaching staff. But the bottom line will all add up to the same thing: a crummy football team.

Is there hope for the future? I have no idea because everything I saw today felt like a rinse and spin cycle. So I'll just go with this: Hope for a couple of more wins and leave it at that. Does that suck? Yeah, but that's where our team and our program are it for now. It'll take Kill longer than two years to clean up the mess left by Brewster and Maturi. Until then, our conference wins will come because we surprise somebody, not because of our super-good football team.

Yep. Not winning as many BIG games as last season is a total failure. How can it not be?

Some people (me, everyone else said it was premature so nice strawman) speculated that Wells looked as good as any safety SINCE Tyrone Carter. in retrospect I probably dissed Dom Barber but 21 against NU is about 17 less than what we are used to.

Well, no. Completely false. Or did you already forget the opening of the thread you started? "Horrible coaching decisions, play-calling...". So, you are clearly saying more than there are only two winnable games remaining.

How soon we forget :) I would also include my favorite S and Kyle. Yes that's right, Kyle freaking Theret. By the end of his (Wells) career....maybe by the end of this season my opinion may change but Kyle played to many games and was extremely productive against legit D1 teams to be leap frogged in 4 or 5 games. Remember Kyle had a 2 interception game also....in a bowl game if memory serves.

Your favorite? Well, thanksgiving dinner might become awkward.
