per WCCO:

Former Gopher running back Darrell Thompson says it’s an enormous opportunity for recruiting.

“It’s a big time for our alumni. It makes people, you know, stick their chest out,” Thompson said.

ESPN crews were on campus Monday working out the “Gameday” location and logistics. They will build the set on Wednesday.

So, who can go? “Gameday” is free, but if you want to get your sign on television you may have to camp out overnight. The University of Minnesota believes thousands of fans could be in the crowd.

Speaking of those signs, ESPN security will be on hand to make sure they’re football appropriate.

Go Gophers!!

Camping out overnight is going to require a little more school spirit (whiskey) than most GameDays.

Me and a few friends are planning to get to set at 4 AM. Likely our only chance for Gameday as students so might as well make the most of it! Shivering already ?
That's awesome! Stay warm. Ski U Mah!

Damnit. I wish I had that chance when I was a student (10-14). Really jealous

You don’t have to be a student to go to GameDay. I’m going, even though I can’t convince any friends to go with. Gotta say I was there.

I'm going to be there. Not going to get there early enough to get in the secured area in front of the set, but I'm going to be in the vicinity.

Still.. it seems like the experience would be even more fun as a student.
