Troy Aikman is ‘done’ funding NIL: ‘Didn’t even get a thank you’

“I wrote a sizable check, and he went to another school. I didn’t even get so much as a Thank You note.” I think that statement can be interpreted as expecting the kid to thank him directly.

Shooter: Lindsey, Koi and Taylor could exceed $3 million for trio.

Add a couple CBs and I’m in a very similar boat. Less talent at RB can be masked by other positions where that deficiency can’t be masked as well at others.

Troy Aikman is ‘done’ funding NIL: ‘Didn’t even get a thank you’

This interview does a good job of exposing the degrading nature of the current pay arrangement. The fact that it seems people think these athletes need to express gratitude for receiving compensation for performing a service for their school is absolutely ridiculous.

Troy Aikman is ‘done’ funding NIL: ‘Didn’t even get a thank you’

I didn’t say you said it was the athletes responsibility. I agree something should be done to acknowledge those that donate. I’m clarifying where that acknowledgement should originate. It’s not the kids fault that Troy wasn’t acknowledged and there shouldn’t be an expectation for the kids...

Troy Aikman is ‘done’ funding NIL: ‘Didn’t even get a thank you’

The lack of response isn’t on the athlete though. The donor relations arm of the UCLA NIL collective should’ve handled.

In fairness, Drake doesn’t have money. His family has money. Additionally, I agree on Taylor. At this point, he’s a luxury. Can the Gophers fund the positions (OL and DL) they need to fund to be good AND keep him.

Here is TxTech billionaire walking through blueprint for how they bought their way into the national spotlight. This is the new college football.

I would describe 3 out of the 4 teams you named as mercenary squads as well. Tech is doing exactly what the rest of the P4 teams in the CFP are doing but are getting attention because they’re Tech.

Troy Aikman is ‘done’ funding NIL: ‘Didn’t even get a thank you’

Such an awkward spot to put these players for no other reason than to avoid paying players directly for as long as possible.

Official 2026 Roster Movement Thread - Who's In and Who's Out?

Right. That’s probably why he never succeeded at this level given his size. He was billed and used as if he was fast but that was never the case. Stevens seems to be legitimately fast. I guess we will find out.

Troy Aikman is ‘done’ funding NIL: ‘Didn’t even get a thank you’

First, this has to be Dante Moore, right. Second, how would the kid know origin of the money. There’s no way he wrote a check directly to the kid? That seems extraordinarily awkward. If it was a donation to the collective, you’d think they would be smart enough to have some sort of donor...

Official 2026 Roster Movement Thread - Who's In and Who's Out?

They may be a different team if both are playing behind the same OL but what’s likely to be better Taylor plus an OL similar to last year or Ijeboi plus an OL that has an extra 500k to spend on upgrades…

My apologies. I misunderstood your previous point (or didn’t read the entire conversation for context). I thought you were saying what Tech and Campbell are doing is illegal. Carry on.

We've got Grey Duck beer sales for NIL, meanwhile...University of Utah nearing landmark private equity deal expected to generate $500 million

I wonder if the involvement of PE introduce any additional hurdles regarding donations or financial contributions to the athletic department? After all, those entities are subject to government regulations.

We've got Grey Duck beer sales for NIL, meanwhile...University of Utah nearing landmark private equity deal expected to generate $500 million

Don’t blame the Supreme Court for the greed of the NCAA and member institutions. They knew where this was headed long ago and failed (or refused) to address the issue in a reasonable manner. In fact, this chaos is likely part of their plan. If college sports die, the NCAA and the member...

We've got Grey Duck beer sales for NIL, meanwhile...University of Utah nearing landmark private equity deal expected to generate $500 million

So the University of Utah athletic department (or at least a portion of it?) is a pro sport entity now? I can’t imagine the private equity group is going to allow the AD to retain autonomy regarding decision making…

Shooter: Lindsey, Koi and Taylor could exceed $3 million for trio.

I guess what I’m saying is if their current allocation gets them the OL we saw last year, reallocate the funds and make uncomfortable cuts if needed. Drake won’t have success if his OL is awful.

Coaches definitely need to re-evaluate transfer recruiting process.
