    All Things 2026-207 Minnesota Wild

Feels like it going to be the equivalent of 4 first round picks or a couple first rounders and a really good round player that the wild pick up from a precursor trade (or a 3 team deal).

My message was supposed to say “half their top 6” as given all the talk about adding another top 6 C, I put Hartman in the bottom 6. However, I suppose a more accurate statement would be half their top 6 is either vacant or in need of an upgrade if they are going to contend.

If they’re going to add salary, those are the players that would have to be moved to make room. Everyone else is either too valuable or makes too little money. I think they have around 10 mil left and half their 6 is either vacant or in need of an upgrade.

Yeah, I was thinking more along the lines of Foligno, Hartman, Spurgeon, Brodin, or Middleton. I wouldn’t be surprised if at least two of those 5 are gone by the start of next season.

This and the pursuit of Larkin/an upgrade at C almost seem to confirm that a couple aging veterans/former core players are likely to be on the move this summer to make cap room for the improvements.

Thanks for breaking down that there are instances in which trading Ek makes sense. Agreed on Bogo and Middleton. Will be very interesting to see what they do with the other two. It would be nice to see some of the young guys start to get some more time.

Yeah, I absolutely agree on all of that. Just didn’t know how many people shared that opinion. Based off those details, does the question become how much of the D corps do they feel comfortable changing in one offseason? Also, would you trade Ek for Jack Hughes/where would you draw the line?

Agreed, on the first paragraph. My point on the second part is that most appear to be ready to move on from the others despite some still being skilled.

What if the return is Auston Matthews (or a similar player)? Look, I don’t want to trade him either for all of the reasons mentioned above BUT his playoff injury history raises concerns. At some point, does Mr. September become derogatory? Hartman and Yurov are probably a pretty good middle...

I knew writing that would get this response and I don’t want to trade him either. Hes generally on my no trade list with a handful of other guys. He’s a beast and drives the team’s identity when available. He has an incredibly team friendly contract. However, his lack of availability in the...

While this may not be a tear down to the studs situation, more than a new coat of paint is needed. Explore replacing good players with availability issues (Ek, Brodin), leaders that haven’t created a “room” conducive to winning in the playoffs (Spurgeon, Foligno) and most importantly veterans...

Hunt’s skills seem to fit this series better right now.

So put Hunt with Spurgeon and Middleton with Petry then try to hide the the 3rd pair as much as possible?

Many of the vets in the D corps have not been good thus far in this series.

It seems like someone more in the mold of a playmaker would be the bigger bang for the buck.
