    General Manager Hires

So what happens when a kid "holds out" for more money? I'm assuming the portal. In the meantime, NFL contracts, while not guaranteed, are typically multi-year. It just seems odd to have a GM and structure setup for what amounts to having a student/athlete for potentially 1 year when the NFL...

The Case for Niko (aka Niko’s Case)

No - More the opposite.... Is Coyle willing (or able) to get into a bidding war? They went cheap on Johnson. They can't do that again and be credible.

The Case for Niko (aka Niko’s Case)

What happens if Colorado State keeps winning? Our potential next coach gets exposed to more programs trying to fill vacancies - some with much more noteriety than us. Whats the backup plan? This is a complete disaster if we have to settle for a perceived backup plan.... Meanwhile, New Mexico is...

    NIL?

I am not as "up" on NIL as others, although I get the whole concept of players being able to profit off of their name and likeness. PJ seems to have done pretty well so far on this from the football side for the product he has to work with (say compared to other "Name" programs in the Big 10). I...

Hole Poll: What grade would you give Mark Coyle in his decision to hire Ben Johnson as the Gophers coach?

I went with an A - We needed to to move on. The F is from making the hire to begin with. Really? That was the best candidate?

B1G Game 18: Gophers visit Michigan State (3-1-25)

They are winning with players recruited by a different coach to potentially play in a different system. They have won 20 games back to back years. Fact..... Obviously Coach P. has adjusted. Teams with better athletes will beat them, but overall their coaches are getting the best effort they can...

    Fire Ben Johnson

To Coyle: If the cupboard is going to be bare next year, start over.... Bring in a name that will recruit at a high level. If you aren't willing to do that, then keep Ben - because you are basically saying "you don't care" about the program at that point. That said: Losing in year 5 to the Penn...

    Fire Ben Johnson

    1. Football hired Coach Fleck - Previous Head Coaching experience and used his "Culture" background as a formula to win. 2. Womens Basketball Hired Coach P - Previous Head Coaching experience and guided the Women's BBall team to success taking over from a Program icon, who had tried to coach...

Max Brosmer 2025 NFL Draft: Scouting Report For Minnesota Golden Gophers QB

Any idea how that grade compared to Tanner's?

How much trouble is Ryan Day in?

Any job Day leaves for at some point will be a "Retirement" job. He will never make more than what he is making in Columbus and there will be considerably less pressure. Gets a 1 year reprieve on potentially losing the Michigan game again.

    Deep passing game

Even with Tanner, this was two NFL receivers and Run After the Catch. He didn't have a big arm. Became an offense of Seam routes, slants, and crossing pattern to give Bateman and TJ RAC opportunities. My point is how do you want to define a deep passing game? Power Arm and Deep Speed vs quick...

What grade would you give the Gophers coaching in the win over Virginia Tech?

A-/B+ - Showed a little rust early and treaded water in the 2nd half. That team wasnt that good....

ESPN: College football transfer portal Insider (Five teams off to a good start: Minnesota)

PJ looks for kids who will work hard and buy into his system. Outside of Irving, we haven't been a big target of other schools to plunder. Can say all you want about "RTB", but the system and the culture help players thrive here. We get kids drafted, which didn't use to get said.

Marshall has notified officials that it is opting out of the Independence Bowl vs. Army, sources tell @YahooSports.

Was it 3 years ago that Army got hosed and didn't get a bowl because of all the tie-ins? Didn't need to happen again. Lost to Navy, but that's still a special team. Thank-you to LA Tech for Next Man Up and keeping the Skunks out of there.

    Lane Kiffin is a D!!

Conceivably - he wins his bowl game while all the SEC teams lose in the playoff right away. Quit whining

Does Fleck get asked to interview for other coaching openings ?

Potentially "Yes", depending on what he wants. We need him more than he needs us. The U has made him very rich, and he has had a lot of success here based on our previous standards. Nothing there says he "has" to stay and coaches also get bored. He is no different. This also gets setup for him...

    Cow Pasture

Just looked at ESPN - Showed the Gophers playing GA Tech in the Pinstripe Bowl. Like the match-up (if true). Don't like the "where". Can I humbly suggest a cow pasture w/wo the cows?
