    Current Roster, Positions, Depth

I agree on the need assessment and the result. A team like MN doesn’t usually get all of the above and has to give up one. If Niko has the choice between a super athletic guy who doesn’t shoot well or a good shooter who is not so athletic, he takes the shooter. And I agree with that. So...

All Things 2026 Transfer Portal Thread

It feels to me like it is a high priority for Niko that all of his guards and wings be decent to very good shooters. I may be wrong on this, but from the little I saw of him last year, jump-shooting was not his strong suit.

***OFFICIAL wisconsin AT MINNESOTA RIVALRY GAME IN-GAME THREAD, BETTER DEAD THAN RED!!!***

Agree. The “traitor” comment is in good fun. However, him going to our arch rival says something about how much he actually cared about Gopher basketball. A lot of kids his age probably didn’t care much about the Gophers as we were a pretty bad team. I really believe Niko will turn this...

    Grayson Grove progression

I watched him in the tournament and recall he was actually a very good shooter from three. As a junior he shot 38.3% from deep. I couldn’t find his senior stats.

    Next year's scholarships

Huge need is to sign 2-3 excellent three point shooters. That roster you listed is full of either unproven in college or poor deep shooters, and that sunk us today vs Wisconsin.

He was not a good shooter for us. Really stinks that he goes to our rival and is a big reason why they beat us. Traitor.

Gophers' Selection Sunday "Magic Number" Is 21

Thanks for all the great suggestions. If I wasn’t out of town, I would try one of these ideas tonight. Cheer loud for our guys tonight!

Gophers' Selection Sunday "Magic Number" Is 21

Where is it best to look for less expensive tickets? I watch the game on TV and see all the empty seats, but I’m not seeing bargains for tickets anywhere. Unfortunately I’m not in a position right now to pay full price. Thx.

    All Hail Niko!!

Right. I seem to recall it was some sort of dress fracture or hairline fracture? As a fan, the new era of saying virtually nothing about injuries is a bummer. I recall some sort of “insider” information at one point hinting he might come back by year-end. But here we are in 2026 with...

***OFFICIAL NATIONALLY RANKED IOWA AT MINNESOTA RIVALRY GAME IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I couldn’t agree more. We have had much better players, thus better teams, but NOT better coaching. I’m referring to the post-Clem area. Maybe Clem and Musslemen were good as at coaching, but I’m not the one to make that comparison. It is so fun to watch.

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT NORTHWESTERN IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I’m in shock. After all these years of watching our awful offenses and seeing other teams back-door cut and make the extra passes and scheme great plays I thought this would never happen here. IMO this is the best coaching I have seen of a Gophers team in a very very long time. Of course...

Big Ten X-Factors: One Player Who Could Swing Every Team’s Season (MN: Isaac Asuma, Sophomore, Guard)

I was at the game, yet I’m still a bit puzzled about what position best suits Reynolds. He did not come off as being confident with his outside shot, but he was aggressive as heck taking the ball in the lane. Nice to see. Seems really tough. I hope some of that rubs off on Asuma. I left a...

***OFFICIAL GARDNER WEBB AT MINNESOTA - THE OFFICIAL START OF THE NIKO MEDVED ERA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Not knowing what to expect, I was really impressed by Kai. I hope we continue to see him get minutes, as I think he could contribute this year.

Are U not Entertained? I’m old enough to remember Years with no bowl eligibility! So, it ain’t Prime Rib, but it also ain’t Swiss Steak

I too remember the really awful years, so I’m glad for every win. Here’s my greatest puzzlement: How can we have this awful of an offensive line? I can understand that we lose recruiting battles for the flashy skilled guys, but it seems to me that there’s no excuse for being this bad up...

***OFFICIAL IOWA AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

It’s painfully obvious: Iowa has better talent, better discipline, and better coaching. We have to recruit better and coach better.

***OFFICIAL IOWA AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

What happened to Mitchell? He can’t even find the rim on a three, and has become a turnover machine. 1-14 on threes as a team? That’s about like shooting blindfolded. It’s hard to believe this is happening … again.

    Darius Taylor!

Taylor is such a great example of why you can’t judge running backs on “measurables” alone. I’m guessing he lacked in one or more of those measurables when compared against the 4-star studs rated ahead of him who signed with the helmet schools. Maybe “too small”? Maybe “too slow”? To me...
