I agree, but not all rivalries involve trophies. Some are because of what once was or now is at stake. IIRC Michigan and Ohio State just play for bragging rights and at one time it was pretty much whoever won that game was champions and the participant in the Rosebowl.

Just don't bring up the 1960 National Championship till after the game. Won the National Title that year, but lost to them in the Rosebowl after the National Title was awarded. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. Especially since all of this occurred before I was born.

By the time that game came along(2009), I guess I just thought it was part of being a Minnesota Vikings "fan". Never was I so sure that we were going to the Superbowl and would be favorites to win it than that game.

What is really cool is each trophy has a cool story, one started it all, and one represents the oldest continuous rivalry... Now you add on the first social media (?) created trophy and you have to admit Minnesota has the best collection of trophies that it plays for.

I think this is probably the biggest gut punch for Minnesota sports fans...

Not to nitpick (okay it is to nitpick) but shouldn't the picture be of the Gophers hoisting the Axe? Most recent win was/ is the Gophers.
