The last time the Gophers were nationally prominent was in the early 60s. Since then 10 coaches have tried to get them back. Not sure the reason it has been so difficult is coaching.
I'd be interested in seeing the recruiting template for the Gophers. How do we sell the Gophers program to recruits? How to we respond to objections to being UM students? How to we keep improving the pitch?
I don't think either group would be hurt. The big guys would get a train load of money and the student-athlete schools would enjoy more competitive games. But maybe I don't understand this strings question.
Yes, 2019 was uplifting. We'll probably see another year like that some day. Tough to get there regularly. Re NIL, Minnesota sports money has many pots to fill. High dilution factor.
He certainly isn't loyal to his school. Less loyal than most. He led his HS to a state championship and I suspect he's looking for a chance for a college title too. He is a helluva runner though. I hope he finds a place where he can thrive and mature.
