Senators Unveil Details of 'Protect College Sports' Act

Funny that Saban was never worried about protecting college sports from coaching salaries becoming an obscene waste of resources.

    Gopher Women's Basketball Recruiting Updates

Kelsey Mitchell scored 3,402 points at Ohio State. I think she developed early enough.

Middle Blocker Lucie Blazcova Transfers to MN

I thought Stella was very good last year as a freshman, she had a few rough weeks but righted the ship in the last month.

Big Ten football took the SEC's power. Then, it broke its brain

It's harder to win championships when you have to win it on the field instead of getting ahead in the rankings by playing Charleston Southern in mid November.

College football coaches endorse 24-team playoff, eliminating conference title games

In 10 years, some "visionary" media executive will roll in, restore the NCAA tournament to 64 teams, restore the bowl season and restore the regional conferences. They will be showered in bonuses for "fixing" college sports.

    Something is OFF

Funny how a few days ago I was saying the U needs to do a better job of promoting the spring season and getting them on streaming. Now I remember why that's a bad idea...the fans don't understand the purpose of the spring season.

    Spring schedule

Sounds like Friday's spring match is being streamed on BTN+ so that's a good start.

    Spring schedule

It’s shocking how Nebraska, Penn State and Wisconsin are able to have productive spring seasons with televised/streamed matchups and live stats. At Minnesota you might have wait to hear what happened from the friend of a friend of the guy who unlocked the gym. And we wonder why the program...

    The Hugh McCutcheon Strategy

I think his strategy was landing a cushy administrative job without deliverables.

Becky AD leaving for Big 10 corporate job

I would never hire a guy who can't even win at Wisconsin to be my "deputy commissioner for strategy"

    GG is Back!

I think the only other candidates that were really being discussed seriously were Plitzuweit (who was at South Dakota) and perennial candidate Aaron Johnston (South Dakota State), but it moved so fast there wasn't much time for speculation.

    Spring schedule

I think it is worth discussing how the U views volleyball and other sports in this time of change. There are signs that the U is willing to commit to a winner in volleyball, where it doesn't seem to show the same committment in other sports. They hired a big name coach, keep the budget high and...

All Things 2026 Transfer Portal Thread

If I'm a booster and my million dollars is going to somebody who averages 6 ppg I'm not going to be too happy. I imagine some coaches are struggling to manage having this many bosses.

Big Ten reigns as king of college sports: Conference stamps its mark in 2026 with championship dominance

Are you proud when everyone on your street gets a promotion while your paycheck is getting eaten alive by inflation? Still happy to be able to live here I guess.

    Transfer Portal 2026

Fennelly always seems like a "does just enough" type of coach, it's crazy that he's built a 30 year career out of that at Iowa State. I grew up in Lincoln in the 90s so I remember watching him bring some great teams into the Bob Devaney Sports Center, especially with good ole Brenda Frese's...

Greg “Boom” May has been named head women’s hockey coach

Interesting to announce it *during* the National Title game, and within an hour of the most high-profile Gopher Women's Athletics win in the last 5 years. Typical Coyle though. The Gophers have been recruiting very strong lately, this was probably a bid to get a new voice in the room but keep...

    Gopher Women's Hockey 2025-2026

Normally I agree, but she's had Ohio State in the last 4 National Title games, winning 2 championships. This isn't a Lindsay Whalen situation, this is the 2nd most decorated coach of the last decade.
