    Requiem for College BB

Thanks, I was aware that Mr. Knight's contributions to the academic side were extensive but didn't think it was relevant to the discussion about NIL financial impacts to athletic success. The University of Oregon is extremely fortunate to have such a dedicated benefactor (both for academics and...

    Requiem for College BB

The NIL era is still in its infancy, but it seems to be devolving into a system of haves and have-nots with Minnesota squarely in the have-not camp. The gap between the 2 camps will only widen with time. Schools with mega-donor alumni will soon dominate athletics in all areas. Take Oregon...

Gophers have season tickets as low as $340

This is nothing new. The cheapest tickets have been $340 for several years now. They are upper deck bench seating in the end zones.

Visit with Montana St. transfer G Darius Brown II

Anyone know what a typical Gopher recruiting visit entails? I'm assuming a tour of the campus and the athletic facilities and a meet-up with Ben and some of the players would be on the agenda - what else? With 3 pro teams in action tonight, I would think a recruit would be impressed if he were...

    NIL Question

I was wondering about the NIL mechanics as well. For example, if Dennis Evans received an offer of 800k from Louisville as some have reported, is that all up-front money or is it prorated over 4 years? And if the offer requires a 4 year commitment by the athlete is that spread evenly over the 4...

Bryan Greenlee former Gopher Leads FAU to Sweet 16 err Final 8 err FINAL FOUR!!

In a hindsight is 20-20 vein, I would point out that David Mutaf was a freshman teammate of Greenlee. After not getting any playing time with the Gophers, Mutaf left to join a Spanish pro team (minor league) where he led the league in scoring and shot 36% from the international 3 point line...

Bryan Greenlee former Gopher Leads FAU to Sweet 16 err Final 8 err FINAL FOUR!!

When I say Hurt held his own, I mean exactly that - his role subbing in for Coffey was not to match Amir's offensive output, but rather to take care of the ball and play good team defense until it was time for a rested Coffey to return - I believe he performed that role well.

Bryan Greenlee former Gopher Leads FAU to Sweet 16 err Final 8 err FINAL FOUR!!

Agree with your assessment. This is the strategy that was employed to give Amir Coffey a rest to ensure he remained fresh for crunch time - Michael Hurt typically subbed in for Coffey 3-4 minutes in each half and held his own while waiting for a rested Coffey to return to action - seemed to...

    Nov 11 Game Time

Anyone know when game time for St. Francis contest will be announced? Have Gopher volleyball tickets same night at 7:00 - Big Ten volleyball match has priority over a BB creampuff opponent but would like to attend both if possible - 5:00 start for BB would be perfect for me. Does athletic...

Any word on whether there will be an exhibition game to start the season? - I believe there has been one scheduled almost every year.

    2022 Transfer Portal Discussion

Do you think we'd take Thiam if he wanted to come back?

Gophers target: Morehead State PG Ta'Lon Cooper (5.9 APG)

I expected better things from Thiam based on his Juco stats - 48.5% from 3 on 130 attempts seems to indicate an elite level shooter but in very limited playing time with the Gophers he was far from impressive. Even in warmups, his shooting stroke did not look smooth nor did there appear to be...

Gophers target: Morehead State PG Ta'Lon Cooper (5.9 APG)

Looking at the individual game logs for Thiam, the minutes per game is definitely off. For the first 18 games he is listed as having played only 1 minute per game ( a placeholder to show that he played in that game?) despite putting up some good stats. For the last 6 games, he averaged 21.5...

All Things Gophers Basketball Class of 2022 Recruiting Thread

Anyone else getting worried that we haven't heard anything official from the Gophers about Henley signing his LOI? Today is the first day of the spring signing period and we often hear on the morning of the first day (at least that's usually the case for the early signing period).

    Every Gopher recruit since 2003–ranked

Mutaf finished this past season with Gran Caneria 2 in the Spanish pro league and was the league's leading scorer at 21 points per game, 36% from 3 (at the longer international 3-point line), and 79% from the free throw line. He was recently promoted to the top pro league team but has only...

Payne, Carrington and Ola-Joseph signed in November's early signing period. First spring signing date is April 13 - hopefully Henley will sign then (and a few impact portal transfers as well)

Bilas: College basketballs officiating problem is getting worse; The competition is great and perhaps has never been better. But the officiating sucks

The non-call that bugs me the most is when a physical big man (like Cockburn) is allowed to bull his way to the basket by knocking back his defender several times until he is in layup territory. Why is that repeated physical contact not called a foul? How are you supposed to defend that?

If we could get a player back from last year's roster...

I'm also a Mutaf fan - nice shooting stroke with quick release. He's currently leading his team in scoring at 18 points per game while shooting 37 percent from 3 point range (note that international 3 point line is farther from the basket than NCAA line). I'll never understand why Pitino never...
