Everybody here (I think) appreciates the overall consistency of Gopher football and the excellent caliber of our student-athletes.
I like PJ but I long for the CFP.
With that said, we currently have a "he'll play on Sundays" quarterback, so there's that.
My Penn State buddy in New Ulm maintains Gopher fans and the U are not serious D1 🏈 fans because as long as we maintain 7-5 and go to a 🥣 game, we're satisfied.
That is sooo cool...and so Minnesotan!
Badger recruits, Hawkeye recruits, Cyclone recruits, SEC recruits all stopped scrolling when this came in their feed.
"The Gopher players got to do what?!"
GoGophers!
Zach Heilprin should be embarrassed by his unprofessional behavior...but if he's a Wisconsin fan he won't be.
Good grief. What an awful thing to tweet.
Who hates Iowa? I hate Iowa.
Who hates Wisconsin? I hate Wisconsin.
But I respect their HCs.
I think six B10 teams right now look at us and say, "that's a win": tOSU, Oregon, Indiana, Iowa, USC, Michigan.
At a minimum, their fans do.
I remember when Gopher fans used to think that about Indiana, Northwestern, Purdue, and Illinois.
Again, name any Big10 team, that if they were on our schedule we can circle as a guaranteed win?
I can't name one after seeing what Purdue and Northwestern did against us last year.
With that, unless the season implodes and we have five wins or less, I'm on board for two more RtB excursions. I...
Didn't Lou have an out in his contract which allowed him to go to Notre Dame with no penalty or buyout clause?
I was disappointed but not mad when he left because he negotiated that fair -&-square.
Still glad the U said yes because for one brief moment...
I loved Lou Holtz before he got to Minnesota.
The fan base knew their football and understood how great a hire he was. Gopher football was relevant and the Metrodome was electric.
What would an equivalent hire be today? Saban? Meyer?
Not to be didactic or negative, outside of non-conference games, circle the sure B10 wins on our schedule.
Others have reminded us of the disappointing Purdue and Northwestern games last year. I think the first five listed all view us as a win.
With that I really like the incoming high school...
I still see 6-6...I wanna believe we can go 9-3, which I think is our ceiling.
Sept 12th at home against Mississippi State and Sept 26th at Washington will tell us everything we need to know.
