2023-2024 College Basketball Other Games Thread

OVC. They played one last season (of getting slaughtered) in the MVFC for football, but already transitioned for hoops and everything else. They'll be OVC for football next year.

2023-2024 College Basketball Other Games Thread

Apparently scheduling is very challenging. Some of the lower conferences are creating conference challenges but a lot has to line up for those to work out. For Summit League teams, Western Illinois late departure created challenges and lead to most teams scheduling 3 or 4 D3 (or worse)...

SEC Leads Week #6 Field of 68 Projection with 9 Bids; Big XII Close Behind with 8

I believe all 3 P12 schools projected in are future B12, so that would bring their total to 11 (as of next year).

Reusse: Foolish for Gophers to continue avoiding St. Thomas hoops rivalry

Might lose out on recruits to St Thomas instead of just Wisconsin, Duke, Gonzaga, and everyone else.

Reusse: Foolish for Gophers to continue avoiding St. Thomas hoops rivalry

Anyone looking at this from a perspective of anything happening soon OR discounting based on UST's current position isn't worth arguing with. This is at minimum a 10-15 year proposition and assumes significant investments and change, to recruiting, facilities, and fan support. Today's NCAA (will...

Reusse: Foolish for Gophers to continue avoiding St. Thomas hoops rivalry

Creighton and Neb already play every year. Marquette and UW-Mad already play every year. How many D1 schools we got in this state?

Reusse: Foolish for Gophers to continue avoiding St. Thomas hoops rivalry

Like an idiot, I tried to parlay it with the under. Lost my $1 I had earmarked to help fund UST's bus travel to Williams if BJ went for the insulting low-ball proposal to actually play us

Reusse: Foolish for Gophers to continue avoiding St. Thomas hoops rivalry

Too soon for me to say losing by 5 to Marquette I guess, but our D1 program is young and we lack signature wins because too many programs that it would be fun and interesting to play refuse "because they would have nothing to gain and Patrick Reusse would make fun of them"

Reusse: Foolish for Gophers to continue avoiding St. Thomas hoops rivalry

Reusse is a UST fan, so this isn't a surprise. How exactly does that differ from playing SC Upstate?

Does losing by 9 at Creighton count?

NDSU HC leaving for USC assistant role

As I like to say about France. Collegeville is a lovely little place. Just a shame it's wasted on the Johnnies!

NDSU HC leaving for USC assistant role

Didn't you go to school in Collegeville, Dr K?

Reusse: Foolish for Gophers to continue avoiding St. Thomas hoops rivalry

Don't all y'all St Paulites get over that when you end up at CDH together? I did have Dr Tauer for 2/5 of my Psychology minor courses back when he was an assistant and teaching a full courseload. One of those classes was Motivation and Emotion, so we should probably post some good BB material...

Reusse: Foolish for Gophers to continue avoiding St. Thomas hoops rivalry

I just know I had fun between the 2nd and 3rd periods (with my 11 year old son tagging along), going to find the kid in the Gopher student section with the "Still D3" sign. Just to say hi, banter a little, and get a picture just in case... The atmosphere was excellent and my kids were not big...

Reusse: Foolish for Gophers to continue avoiding St. Thomas hoops rivalry

C'mon Bob. No hate at all! I've lurked here long enough to know that you are a True Tommie (TM) at heart!

Reusse: Foolish for Gophers to continue avoiding St. Thomas hoops rivalry

As a founding member of the UST "board" (which is still non-public for various reasons, and I won't speak for all members there), I think the argument that "there is no reason to play the game" is silly and easily debunked from a number of directions. Reusse is a hack, but it's pure cowardice...

Reusse: Foolish for Gophers to continue avoiding St. Thomas hoops rivalry

There is no reason to believe that St Thomas wouldn't be willing to negotiate this at a fair market value. Every indication from Coach Tauer and Coach Johnson is that St Thomas is willing and the Gophers are not (under this regime), not that there is a difference in $$ demands or anything of...
