Purdue hiring Barry Odom from UNLV

Wish we had played Purdue THIS year.

Our Nebraska friend Jon Johnston on Minnesota legend Bronko Nagurski

I went there also. I had the place to myself and the "curator" seemed lonely and could not have been more helpful. I bought a book called "The Monster of the Midway". My favorite part of the book detailed the Varsity-Alumni Game of May 1958. Bronko showed up to play at age 49 and the Alumni won...

    THIS DAY IN GOPHER HISTORY

Actually, Billy Wilson (1951-1960) was a far more productive receiver than Gordy. He made 6 straight Pro Bowls for the 49ers and led the NFL in catches 3 times. He only played 12-game seasons but still is in the top ten in franchise history in catches, yards receiving and touchdown catches. Just...

    THIS DAY IN GOPHER HISTORY

He didn't play in that game as he was hurt. He was a senior and went undrafted. He went on to play in Canada. If somehow he had another year at Minnesota, it is doubtful that he would have played much. Wacker came to Minnesota in 1993 and installed his son-in-law, Tim Schade, at quarterback. He...

November 18, 2000- Minnesota 27 Iowa 24 Trailing 24-19 with 6:00 to go, a transfer quarterback from Oregon connects on an 81-yard bomb to a wide-out from Miami. The quarterback had earlier this season guided the Gophers to a stunning win over #6 Ohio State in Columbus. The wide-out would go on...

Happy 10th. Anniversary Dilly Bar Dan

The back to whom you were referring in the Nebraska game was Rodrick Williams. He was a solid back but got crowded out by others. Regarding the OSU game, the weather is a big part of my memory. The snow made the game feel really old -school. Also, Santoso missed a long field goal that would...

    The exact same Gophers

It's like the Lions-Texans game on Sunday. The Lions have so much talent that they were able to overcome Goff's 5 interceptions and beat a good team. Teams like the Gophers with middling talent, however, have to be at their best to be successful against other mediocraties. They were able to ride...

    The exact same Gophers

Well, Vegas had this year's team pegged at 4.5 wins. You had to know in advance that the team would probably not be terrific. They have actually exceeded the expectations of "experts". I have enjoyed every win, especially "The Hollywood Sweep".

Yes, it was Kent Kramer. Brown was maybe the last great Gopher 2-way player. Such an odd and needless death.

November 11, 1972- Minnesota 35 Northwestern 29 Gophers roll up 478 rushing yards while completing no passes. A running back from Alabama has 188 of those yards and later during the season he will become the first Gopher to have a 1,000-yard season. Another back, from North Dakota, runs for 157...

    19 points against Rutgers???

They ran the ball well and we did not. We do not want Brosmer to throw 45 passes in any game.

Post Game Thread: Gophers Lose Disappointing Game at Rutgers

You are correct. This team is just not good enough to play poorly and beat a decent opponent. I think we all knew that weeks ago but the last 4 weeks made many of us believe the Gophers could just keep walking the tightrope.
