What Gophers home regular season non-conference game are you most excited for in Medved's first season?

Of course! Isn't that always the answer after waiting 8 months for the season to start?

    Peacock

Well, this is what happens when you have an 18-team league and you want to show all of the in-conference games. Even before the admission of the four west coast teams, the league's telecasts weren't all on one platform. What I like about Peacock is that you don't have to wait until another...

Surprising Big Ten Offense Has Elite Running Back Room

Agreed. With 18 teams in the league, 11th is middle of the pack. Don't the raters tell us that we have bottom half of the league talent every year? Why would we expect this year to be different? The program still manages to have respectable seasons most years.

Surprising Big Ten Offense Has Elite Running Back Room

Yes, but much less so last season. Last season, the Gophers averaged 31.7 passing attempts per game and 31.1 rushing attempts per game. Essentially a very balanced offense and a dramatically different split than we were used to seeing from a Fleck team. The reasons for this big change were...

Still No Statement from Ben Johnson

I doubt that he honestly does. Remember, the true targets of most message board attacks are other posters.

Still No Statement from Ben Johnson

I agree with your first sentence. A Big Ten head coaching position should not be an entry level job. Unfortunately, your typically muddle-headed thinking took over in the rest of your post. If he had truly "deserved" this job, he would have been a success, or at least not an abject failure...

Still No Statement from Ben Johnson

Maybe Stan just isn't much of an offseason poster.

Still No Statement from Ben Johnson

Well said! Some people on this board just appear to love kicking a dead horse for as long as possible. We are now in a new era with a coach who has a demonstrated track record of success and has recruited a new roster. Now should be the time for optimism about the possibilities for the...

Dawson Garcia signs with JB Bickerstaff and Detroit

The Pistons' summer league roster isn't complete but Dawson already is on it. The type of contract he's likely to get (two-way or Exhibit 10) doesn't vary much by franchise. The biggest difference by franchise would be who has more openings on the regular roster due to injuries during the season.

    When is it our turn?

I'm about 95% confident that you are right. Most of the top prep prospects want to go somewhere that will maximize their exposure. You do that by joining teams that make deep tournament runs, play in the more elite holiday tournaments, and get more than their share of media attention.

Get to Know Men's Basketball's Chansey Willis Jr.

I think that's the first CBB player I've seen who listed salmon as his favorite food. Health conscious no doubt.

What Should I Expect This Season?

I'm fairly confident PSU and Rutgers will be in the cellar. PSU might have been able to avoid that had Niederhausen not stayed in the draft but they look pretty weak by conference standards now. I don't know what to think about Nebraska. They lost four of their top five players but they have...

What Should I Expect This Season?

Making the NCAA tournament every year, or almost every year, isn't as easy as many seem to think even for a Big Ten team. Here are the current Big Ten teams who have made at least 8 of the last 10 NCAA tournaments (not counting the cancelled 2020 postseason year): Michigan State Wisconsin...

What Should I Expect This Season?

Obviously, we'll all know more after a few games are played but, before that additional knowledge, I expect them to be better than last year. At this point, I don't expect them to win a lot more regular season games but I expect them to be able to win games by a more comfortable margin than...

What Should I Expect This Season?

Also, there is more incentive for players to play in the College Basketball Crown. Teams that finish in the semifinals or better get cash awards for the players.

What Should I Expect This Season?

Assuming the College Basketball Crown continues next year, Big Ten teams are required to play there if the CBC invites them and they aren't selected to play in the NCAA tournament. No Big Ten teams were in the NIT in 2025. Conference teams can decline to play in both the NIT and CBC but they...

What Should I Expect This Season?

So, you think they will be at best one conference win better than last year and worse than last year at the low end?

Amateur College Football Officially Dead: Judge OK's $2.8B settlement, paving way for colleges to pay athletes

If it's bona fide NIL, that should be true but if it's just disguised pay-for-play, that certainly can be limited. In fact, in reading about the settlement some months ago, there was a planned task force (supposed to be headed by one of the top accounting firms) that would monitor and set...

Another recruiting tool for coach Fleck? The city of Minneapolis?

Nowhere near as bike crazy as Amsterdam. You really have to watch where you're walking there.

A Decent pre-season projection (sort of) and nice write-up for a change (from CBS no less)

I haven't read the rest of their team capsules yet. I was eager to post the Gopher one. I'll get back to the article but I think it's fair to say that both Maryland and Indiana have set themselves up very well.
