Lu'Cye Patterson reveals NIL situation with the Gophers from last season

I didn't watch the video but there was an article posted today where Lu'Cye said that they were invited to participate in the College Basketball Crown tournament but the administration refused the invitation around the same time that they fired Ben Johnson. I wondered whether they ever received...

Lu'Cye Patterson reveals NIL situation with the Gophers from last season

Amen! It's so much quicker to read a transcript than to watch a video or listen to a podcast and, as you mention, preparing a transcript promotes editing. Of course, preparing a transcript takes more time for the interviewer so I guess that's part of why we don't see them very often.

    NIL approvals rolling through

Well, as another poster (Left of the Dial) mentioned, what is being reported by some posters could be either revenue sharing, NIL, or a combination of both. I assumed that the article mentioned at the top of this post is dealing only with NIL.

    NIL approvals rolling through

Sounds like the commission is at least making a reasonably serious effort to examine the validity of the deals.

Predict the Score Thread: NW State at Minnesota

Same thing with Maryland. On the All-Big-Ten site Off Tackle Empire they refer to September Maryland and October Maryland. September Maryland beats the hell out of bad teams and makes some people think that they might be really good. Then October Maryland comes around and extinguishes those...

Northwestern State worst Gophers' opponent since... ?

I sure hope we don't see that.

Northwestern State worst Gophers' opponent since... ?

Well, by your own information, there are 5 worse teams we could have played. But, I agree that they are plenty bad enough to be the answer to the question posted above.

Northwestern State worst Gophers' opponent since... ?

The question wasn't "Who was the worst opponent to defeat us?" BG clearly is the answer to that question. I would say Northwestern State, based on performance over a decade or more, is the worst opponent we've had in memory. NW State hasn't had a winning season since 2008 and they had two...

    Big Ten Power Rankings

Sure, but the Ohio State weekly ranker also had the Gophers at #9. The Ohio State rankers usually seem to be more generous to the Gophers than writers from the rest of the league.

Gophers who are among the league leaders after one game

I think this was one of those early season games where the Gophers had a better game statistically than they appeared to be having while one was watching the game unfold. True, their ability to put the ball in the end zone looked weaker than we hoped but they had 443 yards Total Offense (6th in...

ESPN's Football Power Index (FPI) 2025 is a bit Joke to Start the Year

Well, they might be the worst but it's a bit too early to tell. I'm not a big fan of ESPN's metrics but they did have Northwestern dropping 11 places after their first game debacle. ESPN had Purdue ranked so low to start that even with a 31-0 victory over Ball State and an improvement of 17...

Gophers who are among the league leaders after one game

    1) Drake Lindsey is ranked: -- 5th in pass completions with 19 (Leader is Nebraska's Dylan Raiola with 33) - 4th in pass attempts with 35 (Leader is Maryland's Malik Washington with 43) - 3rd in passing yards with 290 (Leader is Purdue's Ryan Browne with 311) - 8th in passing yards per...

    Gronowski Iowa

I thought Xavier Williams looked good. Sure, he had the holes but he also had fast feet.

    Jacob Clark

He spent his first 3 seasons at Minnesota but played in only one game (in his first season). His first year at MO State (2022), he appeared in only one game. In his second season (2023) at MO State, he started the first four games but then sustained a season ending injury. In his 3rd season...

What grade would you give the Gophers

I guess my point was that we weren't alone among teams who didn't score a lot in their first game and in terms of yards gained we were pretty high among those who played an FBS instead of a FCS team. We almost got to the point spread. The announcers said before the game that the spread was...

What grade would you give the Gophers

What I noticed most on offense was more seemingly capable receivers than we've had in our most recent years (8 players caught a pass last night) and more speed among some of them (for example, Smith and Tracy).

What grade would you give the Gophers

Sure, but we had a really slow start in rushing to open last season. Opponent Yards Per Carry UNC 2.4 Rhode Island 3.1 Nevada 6.1 Iowa 3.8 Michigan 1.5 Last night, the team averaged 3.5 yards per carry but I think that last extended drive that was just designed to grind it out...

What grade would you give the Gophers

Yeah, 290 yards passing in the first start by a redshirt freshman is nothing to sneeze at. The only negatives I saw were that he seemed to force some passes into coverage and he didn't look particularly mobile.

What grade would you give the Gophers

That's true (the not putting the game away until the 4th quarter part). As far as their opponent, I don't know that Buffalo is particularly subpar compared to the opening game opponents of FBS teams who have played to date. Of the 22 games played by FBS teams so far, 10 have featured FCS...

What grade would you give the Gophers

That's a little optimistic. Buffalo didn't score their touchdown on the possession after the interception.
