It's all the transfers. Money has ruined the sport, just as it has pro sports. I just can't get into cheering for a uniform and I REALLY can't get into being a fan of the Washington Generals.
So, yes. I'm done. But it was a fun 35-year run. Mostly.
If Kennedy Martin ends up at Wisconsin, Penn State, Nebraska or Texas, I am done with this sport. I know. No great loss. But I just wanted to go on record. I also know other sports are worse, but I don't pay any attention to them.
Also, so far at least, there are still way too many players on the roster who do not look like they will ever make a significant difference on the court.
My takeaway from the spring.
We still don't have an opposite who can score consistently. Wucherer is still not well and may not be this fall. Jordan is better than we had a right to expect. We lost to the only quality team we played (without Hanson?) and it wasn't that close.
Season still...
I don't think we should take it personally, but let's.
Seriously, I just don't think dealing with the new NIL terrain is something a lot of coaches want in their lives.
Would have loved to see connect with her attempted back to the court bicycle kick save. Would have been the play of the match.
Gilk has a nice tight spin on her (lefty) swings. It's different and was effective. Yesterday at least. I liked the improvement Taylorhas made from much earlier video...
It would be interesting to know why so many veteran coaches have retired in this last few years. No doubt age is a huge factor, but you have to wonder how the changing landscape of recruiting affected these decisions. It sure doesn't seem like something a normal human being would much enjoy.
This isn't a position necessarily, but I will argue that passing is the toughest skill to master. AND it can only be taught to a certain level. Great passers are born not made. (That's why it always makes me laugh when someone says "if only they could pass" or "if only so-and-so knew how to...
I honestly think Boos could have had at least as much success as Theis had he left Florida for a mid-major. But he stuck with the Gators. Sure seems like a slap in the face to me.
One would think that former Gopher assistant Dave Boos (and brother of UMD coach Jim) would be the frontrunner. There just aren't any "name" coaches available. Unless they can persuade Hambly. Or Sheffield. Or Keegan even.
You have to know Sheffield is hot on the Kennedy trail. Some real talent...
Wow. Is this system broken or what? What's happening at Oregon is ridiculous.
It's like Dodgeritis is a disease infecting everything. Also known as MONEY MONEY MONEY. Sports are pretty much ruined. Unless you like Dance Team titles, I guess.
