All about Max Brosmer Making the Cut

You probably already know this, but Tony Dungy was not drafted in the NFL for his ability to play quarterback. NFL Playing Career: He played three seasons in the NFL, primarily as a defensive back for the Pittsburgh Steelers and San Francisco 49ers. During his time with the Steelers, he won...

All about Max Brosmer Making the Cut

This is where we differ. Many of us said all year that we were not impressed with the Gopher's WRs. We've had difficulty recruiting the position. They seldom got any separation. Our offensive line wasn't great either. Max made our offense MUCH better than it should have been last year. As...

    Farm Aid Concert at Huntington

Very good point. Extremely complex business. You don't luck into running a successful farm. Don't get me wrong on my "first world problems" point. We all have those problems because, well, we live here!

    Farm Aid Concert at Huntington

Excellent point! Using FinnGopher's own $10,000/acre price times the average farm size of 388 acres equals $3,880,000. A lot of people that got to this country AFTER all the cheap farm land had been scooped up would not feel much sympathy for the poor farmer. And I'm not bashing farmers, I...

$200: the final straw for this Gopher alum & lifelong fan

Right! I was told being a hockey parent is basically a lifestyle choice and, when my sons were young, I didn't want that lifestyle. I knew I just had to keep them away from it past early elementary school. One son did eventually ask me about playing and I was like so sad too LATE! 😜

College Football Preseason Coaches Poll - Gophers Receive 11 Votes

If not them, it's the SEC's South Carolina so I'll take Illinois!

$200: the final straw for this Gopher alum & lifelong fan

How people can say being the state of hockey doesn’t impact football is beyond me. How many current pro football players are from this state? If you’re a kid and a really good athlete, aren’t your chances of going pro much better in hockey? I lot of athletic kids and middle class or better...

    Invalid fair catch signal

You had me at "I have watched the replay dozens of times".:D Although I also think that might mean you...and I should pick up some additional hobbies.

$200: the final straw for this Gopher alum & lifelong fan

Thank you. I'm unsure which one is most important. We can't do a lot about #2. The best way to IMPROVE #2 is by not doing stupid things like #1 again and doing #3 more consistently.

$200: the final straw for this Gopher alum & lifelong fan

I agree and have several friends from SDSU that live in the cities and are fans of all our pro sports teams. They root for the Gophers a little, but are much bigger fans of SDSU. The Twins have a game each year that are SDSU alumni games so they are smart enough to notice that niche market...

$200: the final straw for this Gopher alum & lifelong fan

PROBLEM #1: You beat me to this point GopherGrit. This is a huge part of it. I graduated in 1995. I remember going to a couple games with my friends at the Metrodome and the environment was terrible. Getting there was terrible too. Tailgating was basically non-existent. That is why we...

Curt Cignetti on IU’s notably soft non conference slate: “We figured we’d adopt the SEC scheduling model.”

I've now been convinced of the 4-4-2-2-1-1 model. I didn't like it initially because I thought it didn't allow for enough annual variance, but the argument that convinced me is it significantly limits the power of the "playoff committee". I don't trust those people to be fair. Win on the...

$200: the final straw for this Gopher alum & lifelong fan

Burns said recently on a podcast that Iowa & WI pull in about 70 million per year in football from ticket sales and NIL vs. MN at round 45 million. That is a huge hill to climb and probably never will because of all the pro sports competition the Gophers have.

    Offense 79th, Defense 9th

By the way, I liked this article and it shows how good our defense actually was last year. It didn't feel like they were that good, right? For us to be even remotely close to Ohio State, Alabama and Notre Dame with their recruiting advantages is impressive...

    Offense 79th, Defense 9th

I agree that our receivers generally don't get separation. Let's face it, we still mostly need to go south for speed and we're not getting the top guys because they still mostly prefer to stay close to home. NIL will help, but not erase this problem. We've got a lot of big, tall guys here up...

$200: the final straw for this Gopher alum & lifelong fan

It is out of control and this is a minor part of it, but I guess you need to start somewhere. It's likely not going away so may as well figure out a way to live with it. I like the idea of another poster where students get free season tickets, but I think that's unrealistic because you could...
