KillJoy : Lifelong Gopher Fan passed Away

Condolences to you, your family, and all those who knew your father. A famous Roman epitaph: "He lives, not where he is buried, but where he is remembered." Thanks for the lovely write-up.

    Michigan fires Moore

Death penalty sanctions for Michigan football program. It's the only way to be sure.

    It's time for a change.

I think we're seeing the culmination of coaching attrition hit a breaking point for Fleck. Eventually you just can't keep replacing talented coaches and coordinators and expect to keep winning (unless you're UGA, OSU, etc) The original Fleck coaching tree is dying and we aren't willing to pay...

The SEC is dominating the Big Ten in ratings — despite on-field parity

Ironically, it's the Big Ten's fault for creating the SEC monstrosity we have today. In the mid 2000's, ESPN wanted the B1G's TV rights. The B1G wanted a partnership. ESPN rejected it, B1G walked and created BTN, and ESPN then signed the deal with the SEC, teeing them up to to be the "premier"...

    Notre Dame Schadenfreude thread

I personally think the blatant ESPN-SEC bastardization of the playoff is worse than any reaction from Notre Dame's end. I know this thread is about ND but the elephant (no pun intended) in the room is Bama

How did Indiana go from zero to hero?

It helps when Cignetti knows that the school/donors will pay whatever he needs for NIL and coaching staff salaries. PJ sees the writing on the wall. He knows there aren't big donors coming out of the woodwork to magically bolster our NIL. He knows the administration will not pay competitive...

How did Indiana go from zero to hero?

The state's good HS talent historically went to Notre Dame, Purdue, Michigan, OSU, ACC schools, etc. They were never anyone's first choice. Decades of mediocre or mismatched coaching hires for years. And because their donors were hoops-focused, there was never a push to buy out bad coaches and...

    Gophers vs. the SEC

If anyone had time to kill, I recommend going down the Mike Leach (RIP) YouTube rabbit hole. Endless interviews of him just shooting the shit about football and life. A lot of great ones from Washington State and later Miss State. I'm convinced he took the Miss State job because it was the...

How did Indiana go from zero to hero?

We have to zoom out. Indiana is, culturally, a huge sports school. There is more buy-in from the admin, alumns, etc. Even if they have not won big in NCAAB recently, their past success has helped instill that into IU sports culture. Indianapolis and the surrounding regions love football and love...

Official 2026 Roster Movement Thread - Who's In and Who's Out?

Ah yes, I've heard about the flat fee. I wonder how they're approaching high-need, high-level transfers then. For example I've heard d and o linemen is a very competitive transfer market.

    Defensive Line Coach let go

Lastly, weird timing considering we have two 2026 Edge rushers (Aytch and Charles) with very impressive offer lists. PJ better have something up his sleeve

    Defensive Line Coach let go

The reality is that until the admin opens their wallet, we won't be making a big offseason DC signing any time soon. Unfortunately, looks Collins is back next year. He'll have 3-year starters at safety with Brown and Perić, more experience and talent at CB, and arguably our most athletic front 7...

    Defensive Line Coach let go

Yep, worst DB play I've seen in years under Fleck. We were spoiled with Durr, Winfield, Williamson, St. Juste, Walley, Howden, Nubin. PJ did warn before the season that our youth would show at DB and its did. I also think Collins is a terrible play caller and put them in awful positions.

    Defensive Line Coach let go

We were counting on some transfers to play key roles and they were either busts or never saw the field due to injuries. Bad depth, especially at DT, can wreck a group over the course of a season. Doesn't matter how talented you are at DE with Smith, Howard, Menz. Whatever the case was, our...

Official 2026 Roster Movement Thread - Who's In and Who's Out?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but it sounds like our transfer NIL checkbook is very slim, most of the NIL is reserved for recruits. If that's the case, it will be tough to recreate 2019 with guys like St. Juste and Williamson.

Official 2026 Roster Movement Thread - Who's In and Who's Out?

I've heard that Nuke Hayes is the most dynamic WR after the catch the Gophers have and it isn't close. The battle this spring/summer will be fascinating between Smith, Tracy, Coleman, Hayes, and the young guys. I think Coleman might come out on top with another offseason in the weight room.

Yikes, this thread. It's like two bums yelling at each other over the stall at Applebees in Forest Lake
