The Arizona Cardinals are expected to hire University of Minnesota’s Winston DeLattiboudere as their new defensive line coach...

Woodbury Tim made a nice point when he said "He (Winston) is going to be coaching some guys who are older than him and all of them have accomplished more at the pro level than he did". While Collins certainly won't be coaching anyone older than him, every player in the program has accomplished...

The Arizona Cardinals are expected to hire University of Minnesota’s Winston DeLattiboudere as their new defensive line coach...

I understand where you're coming from, but I think it's wrong to put experience above all else. We just saw a 34 year old Kenny Dillingham at ASU come within an inch of bringing a less storied program than ours to a national semifinal. Winston has roughly the same amount of experience as...

The Arizona Cardinals are expected to hire University of Minnesota’s Winston DeLattiboudere as their new defensive line coach...

This isn't just the loss of a position coach, this is the loss of a pinnacle example of RTB culture. Winston was the ultimate final product of what this culture has to offer, which is part of what made him such a great recruiter. I have to feel as though this departure is, in some degree, a...

Danny Collins to DC per RB

Let's bring back Donald Celiscar to fill Danny's former role

Danny Collins to DC per RB

I fear Danny may be the sacrificial lamb until we can target a more established candidate in next year's hiring cycle... I certainly hope I'm wrong and that he kills it though!

    UCLA hires Foster

Definitely, but I don't think the conventional hire is safer in this case. Hiring a coordinator from somewhere comes with it's own risks. An external hire probably wants to bring his own staff. Whole new staff runs the risk of a transfer portal purge. Worst case scenario If Foster stinks is you...

    UCLA hires Foster

My argument was that it's a safe hire to which you commented on his "lack of experience in ... everything?" Since you weren't capable of picking up on my sarcasm, I'll spell it out for you. Foster has experience working with the team, recruiting, and coaching at the same level. With all of this...

    UCLA hires Foster

I agree. My first comment was that it seems like a safe hire.

    UCLA hires Foster

Does he have no recruiting experience? Has he not been working in college football for a decade? Does he have no experience working with the players and coaches in the program? If you think there is no overlap between being a college coach, and being a college HEAD coach, then yes I guess he...

    UCLA hires Foster

Seems like a safe play by the AD. Hometown guy, UCLA HOF member, solid pro career, and experienced with the program. He must've shown he makes up for his lack of experience in other areas. Have to imagine one of those areas is the fact that his resume demands less pay than an established HC.

Rumor: Fleck to be considered for UCLA job.

Move to LA, pay California taxes, coach the 2nd best college team in a city with 10 pro teams, and pay more for everything or Stay in Minnesota, keep your mansion on the lake, be the face of college football in the state, and use your established success to keep your ass out of the hotseat...

Rumor: Fleck to be considered for UCLA job.

I agree that the program isn't super glamorous on its own. The culture of the area still matters though. I don't think Fleck is gonna do great recruiting California with his binder of acronyms. Even if UCLA isn't glamorous right now, I have to imagine they'd like their next hire to take them to...

Rumor: Fleck to be considered for UCLA job.

While I don't think it's realistic, I'd be over the moon if we somehow landed Vrabel. I think it'd be more likely to see Pete Carroll take the UCLA job than to have Vrabel take our job. We will be seeing Fleck run out of the tunnel again next year. Another year of headscratching timeouts...

Rumor: Fleck to be considered for UCLA job.

Maybe there is some truth to this, but I just don't see it working out. I think the culture that Fleck has built his success on runs in direct opposition with the glitz and glamour that exists in LA. Western Michigan to Minnesota seems like a logical progression. Minnesota to UCLA doesn't. Not...

    The People’s DC options

I agree that he will continue to be a huge asset on the recruiting trail regardless of how things play out. It may be a longshot, but I'd be in favor of taking the chance. No better testament to your belief in your culture than to hire the man who is a product of that culture.

    The People’s DC options

I think tha Definitely a good take. Monroe is the more established candidate between the 2. I guess I would be concerned about him being picked off down the line. Even being a Minnesota native, he isn't a Gopher in the same way Winston is. At the end of the day, immediate success should take...

    The People’s DC options

Given Fleck's track record of internal hires, I think Winston is our guy. Moving from D line coach to D-coordinator is the same path Rossi took at Rutgers prior to coming to MN. Winston is a shining product of Fleck's culture, and I think that would resonate on the recruiting trail. I imagine...

Did anyone get invited to PJ's (exclusive) PJ party?

I'm only going if I can get some Land O' Lakes (sponsor) milk to wash down my Cub (sponsor) doughnuts.
