Minneota/BOLD in the section final WAS indeed the Class A championship game.

    My Big Ten Power Rankings

Agreed on winning one of the last two in order to feel "good". USC, UCLA, and maybe Illinois are looking at their loss to us as a missed opportunity, just as we do the UNC, Michigan, and Rutgers losses. I am loving the balance of the Big Ten this year. Seven teams currently sit at 4-3, 4-4, or 3-4

I agree on Staples-Motley, they are not a regular in football but have some impressive wins. Super intrigued by 5A and 6A games. Minnetonka was playing with Maple Grove earlier in the year before a couple bad 2nd half turnovers flipped the game. Elk River/Alexandria should be a great game on...

Lack of planning and trying to do everything on the cheap. Containing the crowds to a finite space, you have less cleanup, bathroom services, crowd control, etc. to pay for.

In the past it made sense, Concordia ran an offense that was atypical to the rest of the league, which required extra preparation. Now that Concordia has moved to a "modern" offense, I'm not sure what to attribute it to.

I was a bit surprised to see the Bethel/Concordia score so lopsided. Concordia was the only team to play SJU to a one-score game all season and actually led most of the game before a 14pt Johnnie rally late in the game. I know the first Bethel/SJU game was earlier in the season - it looks like...

They were in many ways the OG, but a victim of a static business model with demographic changes skewing away from rural to suburban/urban living, along with expanded offerings of premium products where people shop on a weekly basis (grocery, Target/Walmart, Costco/Sam's).

Schwan's home delivery just went out of business, but Schwan's Food Company is a $3+ billion company that still has presence in Marshall (corporate + production) but is owned by a South Korean conglomerate. Home delivery was a shrinking piece of their business for years.

Correct, that "permanent" move was forced by weather and then made permanent for semi-finals. Growing up as a coach's kid, I remember many state semi-final games in the 1980's that were played in the teens or low 20 degree weather.

Understood. I played against some OTC teams in high school and they were usually well coached. I only called out those state-dominant programs because that aura is more engrained and generational. Players are intimidated because they saw their older brother, cousin, uncle, friend...

It used to be that pre-determined sections hosted quarterfinals and semifinals based on the bracket, which switched each year.

OTC has never won a state championship (unless you apply a big * to Battle Lake back in the 70s). Not nit-picking, but I am nit-picking. They are a couple rungs down the ladder but had great runs with Don Seipkes. Caledonia (five straight AA Championships somewhat recently and ten since 2007)...

Barnesville and OTC are in the Minneota category or the types of teams to step up to the Goliath of their class?

Gophers vs. Rutgers: Brosmer vs. Kaliakmanis- Who wins the QBR

I couldn't care less if AK doubles up MB in QBR, as long as the Gophers are +1 on the scoreboard, and 1-0 in the Rutgers Championship Season :p

IMHO Minneota/BOLD section final was the de facto Class A championship game. Hoping someone proves me wrong.

I understand they are taught to do that, I just felt him decelerating at the end had far more impact. His eyes were tracking the ball already, but it seemed like the DB was clueless. Amazing catch regardless, not looking to debate that. I didn't hear any commentary, was watching from a bar...

Amazing catch, but was such an odd sequence. Ball was underthrown and the Illinois DB clearly wasn't tracking DJ's eyes as he almost gave up on the play. Wondering if Jackson slowing down to meet the ball gave the DB a sense that the play was over and/or behind him.

Probably not as widely known, Grant was also one of four finalists for the Concordia-Moorhead job back in 2001. Not sure if that was some sort of positioning on his part, but he was not offered/selected for the job anyways.
