They did get beat too many times baseline, I don’t think it was intentional. NDSU rotated the ball quick on those possessions and the defender closed too quickly and got blown by. Definitely something that needs to be worked on. Gophers don’t have the rim protector to push teams baseline.
One thing that stood out to me was how well the gophers controlled the pace. It seemed very intentional when they would decide to speed it up at times.
So at this point with Summer workouts already started, are we thinking they will add 2 more players? If we do add anyone, is there a chance that they are more than a practice squad body? Are there still Big Ten quality players left in the portal?
I don’t think Ben’s problem was recruiting the high end talent. He did pretty well with that. His issue was recruiting role players that could contribute and then having a plan on how to use those players. I think a lot of learning how to create a culture where winning and everyone playing...
I’m so ready for that. It seems for the majority of almost a decade they start strong and wilt come February. So ready for a team that gets stronger and develops as the season goes on.
Kind of off topic, but the mention of Oturu got me thinking. I would imagine it's really hard not to be a little pissed off about the new NIL stuff for players like Oturu. He most likely would have walked out of college a millionaire and stayed in school with the new rules. That's gotta sting...
Yea, I thought he was going to really do well for the Gophers. He had the tools, nice guy too, I played in a league with him a while back now (maybe 6 or 7 years ago) until the league disbanded. Kenosha/Racine area.
