Would a 10-2 Gophers make the 12 team playoff next year?

Just a little hypothetical that I was pondering, would a 10-2 gophers make the 12 team playoff next year? Based on this years CFP rankings, 10-2 seems to land you on the bubble ranked somewhere around 10-12. The most realistic way I see us getting to 10-2 involves losing to Mich and either PSU...

Jim Zebrowski promoted to Co-OC at Kansas

Penn State hired Kansas' OC, didn't realize he was QB coach there.

5 of 7 west teams could end 6-6

If Illinois loses today but wins next week, Wisconsin wins this week but we win next week, and Nebraska wins next week. Northwestern, Illinois, Nebraska, Wisconsin, and Minnesota would be 6-6. Iowa would end 9-3 and Purdue ends 3-9 or 4-8.

    Current 2024 scholarship outlook

TL;DR We are currently at 86 scholarships, so expect at least 1 more to transfer out. Annual thread on the current scholarship numbers for 2024. As always, the numbers always work out, but it's nice to have a grasp on the number of transfers in/out we might see. This is the current list of...

How did Athan do in the second half?

I wasn't able to watch the second half, but 14-22 seems like an improvement on his completion percentage. Did he look like he settled in?

    Fire Rob Wenger

Our special teams have be horrible this year and at most average in the past. He obviously isn't getting them ready to play, too many mistakes.

This is a open discussion about all things Mitch Leidner, because apparently this is what we're doing now.

To those calling to fire PJ, who would you hire in his place?

Give me a name that you think we could realistically hire that would be better. One wrong hire and we're back to the Brewster days. Nebraska is experiencing this right now and both Illinois and Purdue were there. I understand the frustration about having not won against Iowa, but if we win...

    Current 2023 Scholarship outlook

TL;DR Expect to see another 3 additional transfers into the program before next season in addition to the 19 that have already left. I made a similar thread last December to keep track of how many scholarship players the team had total and see what the remaining recruiting picture might be...

Remaining path to win the west

Obviously, the gophers would need to win out, leaving us with 2 conference losses. With the tie breaker going to Illinois and Purdue, they both need to pick up 2 losses. Purdue's Remaining Schedule @ Wisconsin vs Iowa @ Illinois vs NW @ Indiana Illinois' Remaining Schedule @ Nebraska vs...

Is division champion based on conference record or division record?

I can never remember which it is. If it's by division record, Purdue would have to drop 2 two games in order for us to win the division if we win the rest of our division games. If it's by conference record then we just need them to drop one more game than we do the rest of the stretch.

Would you take an 11-1 season if the one loss was the season opener?

Would you take an 11-1 season if the one lose was non-conference and to Jerry Kill's New Mexico State? Since the loss is non-conference, we would win the West and be going to the Big Ten championship.

No Maroon/Gold team draft this year?

In the past few years, the Maroon/Gold spring teams have been done as a draft with 1-2 players on each team acting as the captains. I feel like we knew what the teams were shaping up to be about a week out, but it's the day before thje game and we have heard nothing. Are they not doing it this year?

    Current Scholarship Count

TL;DR: We have 82 scholarships on the roster next year with the transfer portal closed for new entrees. I just went through the 2016 through 2022 classes and counted how many scholarship recruits are still on the team to see where we are for scholarship numbers since the limit of 85 comes back...

    Offense the last two games

Idk what changed, but the offense felt better the last two games than it did all season. Had we played like we did the past two games, we'd have at least two more wins...

How did the defense let Miami back in

Last week I was giving the defense the benefit of the doubt because it was OSU, but watching them let Miami Ohio back into the game and seeing OSU currently down vs Oregon has changed my mind. I know the play calling on the Offense hasn't been stellar either, but I don't see how you can't blame...

For anyone who was there, what were your takeaways? Seems we have a thread about a CAB injury (yikes...) but no other news here so far.

Special Teams coach needs to go

Four years and we can't rely on the kickers still, put CAB back on the return and he gets taken out of the game. We can have quibbles over the offensive coaching but I don't any coaching changes happen there, but everyone agrees our special teams are anything but special.
