    Fire Ben Johnson

The column was a PR plant by Coyle. It’s been his job to get the money all along and he fell way behind. He needs to leave with Johnson.

Seth Davis: Ben Johnson has done an incredible job with this team. One of the elite coaches in one of the toughest jobs in America.

People live here and enjoy it for many reasons outside of gopher hoops. Take a look at the records four years ago before you say it was preposterous to put us below NU, Rutgers and PSU. Nobody is cheering Davis' comments. Just acknowledging reality. No self hate involved. The reason Coyle...

All Things 2024-25 Minnesota Timberwolves In-Season Thread

I did watch it. Great series! I don't think it's the Atlanta in him. He is a smart guy who does not speak the language of white America. However, neither does most of the league. On the floor that's how everybody talks. It's about talking shit directly at the refs and showing them up...

Seth Davis: Ben Johnson has done an incredible job with this team. One of the elite coaches in one of the toughest jobs in America.

The first part of Davis' comment is not true. Ben has not done a "fantastic job" and hasn't done enough to keep his job. The second part of the statement is true. It's one of the worst P5 jobs and probably the worst job in the B1G. For all the DEI folks, let it go. Nobody you wanted was...

He probably loses calls too, though I don't follow his game closely enough to know.

MLB umps are the worst. Incredibly thin skinned.

This fairly new habit of holding his arms out wide like he's going to be crucified when he doesn't get a call also doesn't help. I think the only thing that is going to impact his behavior is his teammates telling him to knock it off.

The Timberwolves scout NEEDS a massive raise with all these finds

I thought Shabazz had the tools to be a better player. Too bad it didn't work out.

As everybody knows, I'm far less impressed with the job Tim Connelly has done than most people on this board. His reputation exceeds his performance, IMO. However.... Drafting Jaylen Clark in the second round is a 10 out of 10. Clark is as boring as Ant is exciting. But all he does is...

Tonight is just the kind of game they often lose (even with Ant). It's a talented and immature team, like its leader.

Fresno State Men's Basketball players allegedly placed bets on games they played in, sources say

I go up north every summer with a group of friends. One year we stopped at a casino on the way up and I "accidentally" won $60 at the blackjack table. It was an accident because I didn't know what the hell I was doing. It was hard to walk away from the table because greed and delusions of...

Fresno State Men's Basketball players allegedly placed bets on games they played in, sources say

Why are you betting on games and what kinds of bets are you making? I'm not being judgmental, I'm genuinely curious. I don't bet, not for moral or budgetary reasons, but because it doesn't interest me. For me, the game is the hook. What's the hook of betting?

Wow - Marcus: Johnson is arguably at a point in his tenure when he might also need for people to be patient with him.

I did a quick search of the columns that Scoggins and Reusse have done on Johnson through the years and they are largely quite positive, certainly more positive than his record deserves. So what's the deal? A few guesses: 1. The media in this market tends to go pretty easy on sports figures...

Wow - Marcus: Johnson is arguably at a point in his tenure when he might also need for people to be patient with him.

For the sake of 8-10 posters who can’t forgive Ben for being a black coach and who have claimed without providing evidence that Gabel forced the hire and who have claimed without providing evidence that junior Muss and junior Dutcher were fighting for the job, let’s all pray that Coyle doesn’t...

Wow - Marcus: Johnson is arguably at a point in his tenure when he might also need for people to be patient with him.

I think "good dude" from the medias perspective is defined as is the person approachable, does the coach provide access, does the coach help you meet deadline, does the coach publicly embarrass you, is the coach a straight shooter etc. I suspect Pitino and Tubby were also good dudes who got...

Wow - Marcus: Johnson is arguably at a point in his tenure when he might also need for people to be patient with him.

There is no way Coyle retains him at this point. Your post addresses something that I think is in play here. It's not racial and it's not DEI (oops, bad word!). Ben is basically a good dude, so the media has given him the benefit of the doubt. He hasn't produced, so he's gone, but I think...

Naz Reid is expected to opt out of his contract this summer and enter free agency

He's a $30M player. At least. They are going to have to do something with Julius this summer to keep him. Even if they do get rid of Julius this will be an early test of the ne regime's willingness to spend money.

Not complaining, regardless of number of calls, is always the exception in the NBA. It's obnoxious. If they made the fine for a tech $250K, the players would STFU. Even the ones on max contracts. Another option would be fining every player the team $50K when a player gets a tech.

Dillingham is tracking as Finch predicted at the beginning of the year. Finch said in an interview that he expected Dillingham to play well in about one out of every three games. Last night he didn't shoot well but he avoided mistakes and his +/- was excellent. Finch is only playing him when...
