Shedeur Sanders’ Slide in NFL Draft Cost Him $44 Million

https://www.sportico.com/personalities/athletes/2025/shedeur-sanders-nfl-draft-slide-contract-1234850068/ Don't get me wrong, I wish Shedeur nothing but the best. It looks like he's going to have to do it the hard way, relatively speaking, moving forward. A lot of competition to be the Browns...

    Way-too early potential 2025-26 lineup

I'm relatively new to this board and much more interested in MN basketball now mostly because of the new hire so am really just interested in what you more educated basketball fans think. Here is what I could find on the internet. How good would this lineup be? Way-too early potential 2025-26...

Has NIL and the portal already ruined March Madness?

14 out of 16 SEC teams make it and 16 of the 32 teams to make it out of the first round are from the B1G and SEC, eight each? It's also not surprising there were fewer upsets since good players are now just transferring from the lower leagues to get a bag of money from the P2. They should...

Is it fair that Notre Dame is independent?

Notre Dame gets $20 million for reaching the championship and keeps it all to itself because it is not in a conference. Ohio State gets the same, but must divide it among all the 18 teams in the conference. For most elite programs, wouldn't being independent generate more income on average...

Wow! ESPN...I mean ABC taking every opportunity to tell us the B1G is over-rated.

Gotta love the TV crew for the Notre Dame vs. Indiana game.

The Golden Years for college football coaching salaries has passed

For years, coaches, administrators and facilities soaked up all the money that should have been going to college football PLAYERS. As we all predicted, that's changing now...

Travis Hunter Heisman speech - It's hard to not like this kid.

A lot of athletes give off a vibe of arrogance and entitlement, not this guy.

Gabe Powers, Ohio State, enters portal and sets three visits - Minnesota, Wisconsin, Kansas State

Former 4-star, 8th ranked LB from 2022 generated a lot of interest in the portal, but only set three visits. Buried behind two fellow 2022 recruits, 5-stars Sonny Styles & CJ Hicks. Also beat out for playing time by 2023 4-star, Arvell Reese. He was good enough to be on their second string...

Luke Fickell is in how much trouble?

Iowa - L 42-10 Nebraska - L 44-25 Minnesota - L 24-7 (really good change they get shut out without that personal foul)

The Gophers likely lose the USC and UCLA games without Koi Perich's big plays. They'd have a 2-5 record right now.

With all the attention Koi is getting, I hope he doesn't get a big head, but facts are facts! He caused a fumble and had the game sealing interception at the end of the USC game. Without those two big plays, we probably don't win, right? As we all know, winning the turnover battle is one of...

Keep in mind, the Gophers went 9-4 as recently a 2022. They were 5-2 at home, 3-2 on the road and 1-0 in neutral site games (bowl win vs. Syracuse).

Remember how different the posts were back then? How different our hopes and expectations were? It seems like a million years ago! Most of us were surprised by our bad 2023 and 2024 looks like it will be worse. I thought this would be a bounce back year! Not likely. I'm 51 and a life long...

    No Debbie Downers thread

I just don't get why many of you follow the Gophers when you seem so constantly upset with them. I'll never get it, but to each their own. They are just entertainment for me and no result will change my life. In any case, here's what I liked about yesterday: College football is back and...

One of the best CFP semi-finals ever?

Both games came down to the last play and were competitive mostly throughout. Texas almost pulled off a miracle comeback and Michigan did comeback. Do you agree Washington and Michigan are not in the championship game without the portal? Well, this can’t even be argued with Washington having...

Beanie Bishop consensus all-American at WVU

Very happy for the young man. Wish we could have kept him. In the below articles (part 1 & 2), they say he was playing here, but not full-time, which is why he left. To get to the NFL, he had to go somewhere he could get on the field more. Who woulda thunk we had a loaded CB room...

PJ bowl winning streak at 5 and he is #1 all time for Gopher coach bowl wins.

PJ is a good P5 coach. Can it really be argued? I'm not saying he is great, but he is good. Wouldn't the extra time coaches have available to prepare for bowl games further separate the wheat from the chaff? If he was bad, shouldn't he routinely lose bowl games when coaches have several...

Nebraska's $450M football stadium renovation plan criticized as academic programs are cut

This article is full of good stuff! https://www.espn.com/college-football/story/_/id/39071512/nebraska-planned-450m-renovation-football-stadium-criticized "Faculty at Nebraska and nationally acknowledge the importance of athletics at a Big Ten university but said the divergent funding plans...

The only position in sports more important than college quarterback is...NFL quarterback.

Agree or disagree? - Michael Penix got Tom Allen paid. - Riley Leonard got Mike Elko paid. Any other examples? If good D-1 college quarterbacks were paid what they were worth, most could retire at 22! It's not quite a free market for college QBs yet, but if it ever gets there. Wowza!

Hire a coach from FCS and pay him ~$2MM & use savings for NIL?

I heard this on a podcast and thought it was very interesting. I think they used the example as Indiana because they are looking for a coach. Why bring another coach in at $8 million/year or whatever when you could hire a coach from FCS or group of 5 that currently makes only ~$1 million/year...

    Reason for hope next year?

Just finished listening to Gopher Gridiron Radio podcast and while they didn't sugar coat the Michigan loss...because that's impossible, they did talk about the future. A couple things they mentioned: 1) They thought this was more of a development year for us than most. They said mid-tear...

How do you cope with Gopher disappointment? I broaden my view to the wider B1G. You?

    1) I avoided reading this message board until today. 2) I listened to college football podcasts, not Gopher podcasts. Podcasts I like: - Eyes on B1G - Yahoo Sports: College Football Enquirer - Until Saturday - Cover 3 - Buckeye Talk (let's face it, they win a lot so I'm seldom disappointed:-))...
