All Things Kerwin Walton Recruitment Thread (Class of 2020)

UNC is expected to get a commitment from a transfer forward tonight from what I read this morning. Gophers are absolutely without a doubt still in play, and Kerwin without any doubts is Pitino's top priority and has been for a while.

    Matt Haarms transferring from Purdue

Haarms is a grad transfer, so he won't be sitting.

All Things Kerwin Walton Recruitment Thread (Class of 2020)

Interesting talk on the Arizona 247 board. Last week, Walton was a lock to commit there. Now, they're pretty confident he's NOT going there and they're getting a transfer wing. UNC has two 4-star wings committed and he's not likely to be a starter there. He controls his own destiny with the Gophers.

    Brandon Johnson Commits

There's 1 scholarship left, and it's Walton's to take. He's been Pitino's top priority for some time now. I'm guessing the parties involved with Willis leaving have known for some time.

    Brandon Johnson Commits

Evan Daniels says Pitino is still actively recruiting Kerwin Walton. The 3 options are someone currently on scholarship would have to transfer, Marcus Carr staying in the NBA Draft or Eric Curry medically retiring. We don't know of any transfers and Carr made it known to the coaching staff he...

All Things Kerwin Walton Recruitment Thread (Class of 2020)

Walton has been the top priority for Pitino for a while now, and all I can tell you is there will be a spot for him if he wants it. There have been a few transfer wings considering Minnesota that have committed elsewhere or not decided yet, and that's not a coincidence.

All Things Kerwin Walton Recruitment Thread (Class of 2020)

It's between the Gophers and Arizona. He's also still in contact with UNC, per RJ, but they don't have an open scholarship right now. My gut tells me he's staying home. Pitino has made Walton his top priority for a while now, and the last scholarship left for 2020 is his if he wants it. Kerwin...

All Things Kerwin Walton Recruitment Thread (Class of 2020)

It could very well be that Walton has decided, is talking to the coaches and just hasn't made it public yet. He's waiting until at least April 15 to announce it, but that doesn't mean the coaches involved in his recruitment don't already know or at least have a sense where he's headed. I don't...

    Transfer list possibilities, Spring 2020

Projections have him at best a late second round pick. Sure, he can score, but he can't defend anything. Iowa was terrible defensively this year, and he's the main reason why.

All Things Class of 2020 Recruiting Thread

Julian Welch was god awful. Dude played defense like he was stuck in the mud. He also took about a year and a half to get a jump shot off. Vincent Grier is one of the better transfers I can think of. Here's to hoping this year's transfer is Morris Udeze. NCAA coaches have it tough this year...

    Transfer list possibilities, Spring 2020

June 3, but he's not going anywhere. He's told the coaching staff he'd like to come back but is putting his name in the draft process to get info/evaluation from NCAA-appointed agents.

Marcus Carr declares for NBA Draft

Directly from Fuller's piece in the Strib today... "The NCAA’s early entry withdrawal deadline is June 3. Richard Pitino and his staff were told by Carr that he wants to return to the team for next season, but that he hopes to put himself on the NBA’s radar right now by testing the waters...

Marcus Carr declares for NBA Draft

Last year it was an April Fool's joke he thought would be funny. He's putting himself in the process to get feedback, evaluation to find out what he needs to work on for the next level. He's not getting drafted, unlikely to get a 2-way. I fully expect he'll announce he's returning to the Gophers...

All Things Kerwin Walton Recruitment Thread (Class of 2020)

That's what his dad told an Arizona 247 guy. Gophers are absolutely still in the mix for Kerwin, according to people in the know.

Oturu to enter draft per ESPN

I could be wrong but I thought those types of "agents" were advisers appointed by the NCAA to give draft feedback. If he hires and pays an agent, he forfeits his amateur status and college eligibility. Maybe that rule changed and I missed it, not sure. The main point stands regardless, he's not...

Oturu to enter draft per ESPN

Oturu has posted on Instagram that he's hiring an agent. So for those that think there's a chance he's coming back, there's your answer. Go get paid young man.

Oturu to enter draft per ESPN

We have absolutely no way of knowing what the team will be like next year at this point. Right now, thin in the front court for sure. If Freeman and Omersa live in a gym this off-season, you never know. If Curry is healthy enough to play and trust his knee, who knows. Get Kerwin Walton to come...

Oturu to enter draft per ESPN

He's not withdrawing, he's gone. Pitino is in touch with recruits and telling them Oturu is turning pro. He said as much to Udeze in a report from Adam Zagoria. I think that's why this came out today, Pitino wants recruits to know playing time is available.

Pitino on KFAN: If we won 2 more games, we'd be back in the hunt for the NCAA Tourney

Amazing, it's not what he actually said and it's really not even close. He said had they won 2 more games after beating Northwestern, they would be in the NCAA conversation. I think they would've been a bubble team if they somehow got to the Big Ten title game, they would've had the same record...

    Pitino coming back

Bingo. Coyle didn't make a move largely because revenue will be lost due to economic uncertainty across the country and he didn't have support from the Board of Regents to buy 2 contracts out, and pay a new coach.
