I like Mackey and Judd. Their Wild stuff is good and entertaining. But their college football coverage (which they don't do) is about as knowledgeable as some rando you met at Walmart.
He won Wisconsin and finished with 8-4 and hopefully 9-4. The Iowa loss still has me a grumpy and it sounds like the team and coaches were upset probably more than me. Comments like this, eh, I don't care. Gophers start having a losing record in the Big, then I'll care.
If a Gopher freshman QB has a cannon of an arm, good size, and has wheels that's something to want to see. If that freshman throws for 300+ yards with 2 tds and no ints - at Madison - and we retain the axe - how can people not paint with a broad brush?
Their offense sucks - really sucks. But their secondary has ball hawks. Minnesota needs to not turn the ball over and this game is won, IMO. Easier said than done.
Fleck does tend to right the ship when things take a bad turn. I lean much more toward the problem being NIL. I'm not confident in that situation ever getting better unless CFB goes full pro and has salary caps.
Let's see, the 2021 Gophers lost three games where the defense gave up less than 300 yards.
<300 yards (Illinois, Iowa)
<200 yards (Bowling Green)
I don't want to continue kicking a dead horse, but the "do a better job" problem rested mostly on the previous OC's offensive play-calling. In...
Still seems like a decent fellow. That said, this interview presents exactly why he should not be a Big 10 head coach. There was a point where he nearly dipped the topic in politics and oh man that could have made this interview the perfect train wreck. Anyway, aside from his naive...
I think the Frost train continues off the rails. Frost gets fired after losing to Rutgers. Later in the season, Nebraska can't muster more than 13 points against Minnesota. I don't see them making a bowl game, yet again.
In this context, "given" is: Something that is certain to happen. Something taken for granted.
Under Kill/Claeys, 6 regular season wins were probably certain to happen. 8 wins? That was the ceiling.
It is difficult to argue with how badly the offense played in that game. If Ciarrocca gives the offense a faint pulse, we put 30+ on them. Meanwhile NMSU will struggle to reach 200 yards on the day.
I'm on the under with guessing 31-3.
