Agree, but then as a baseball coach, what is your move? I am telling my guys to take more pitches, be selective, cut their swings down to 3/4 to make barrel contact if they have to, quit letting good 1st pitches go by, bunt, run, etc., Beating your head against a wall does nothing...

Isn't this common coaching sense? Or a guard who is an upper classman running the show? Shouldn't they both know better?

It just isn't smart guard play flat out. See Wisconsin guard play. Brains = wins at the guard position. Dumb = losses. You don't chuck 30 of them when they aren't falling. This is also coaching, the bench is always a good reminder to do what the coach asks of you.

    Ben Johnson is a Disaster

Again, a physical limitation. I don't get mad at those. Sometimes, you are what you are when it comes to limitations such as those. What you can control is defense, rebounding, effort, smart play. Saw none of it last night.

Video: Ben Johnson on Gophers shooting woes

Yes, sometime outside shots don't go in. Your JOB as a coach is to get them out of that and run some offense that gets the ball in. Or drives to the bucket. Letting them chuck 30 - 3 point baskets isn't on them Ben. It's on YOU. Take control of your team for christmas sake.

    Ben Johnson is a Disaster

They had enough talent to win this game last night. That is what is hard to watch. It had nothing to do with talent and everything to do with effort and brains. Zero of either last night.

    Ben Johnson is a Disaster

People can call all of the bellyaching piling on. But it's justified. Ben just went last night and let his guards chuck 30 three point baskets!! 30!!!! when they couldn't hit the broad side of the barn! When they took the ball inside they scored almost at will. A successful BT coach flat out...

***OFFICIAL IOWA AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I take back what I said earlier about these guards being the difference. The played like absolute fools, idiots, no brain kids that we've seen throughout all of Ben's time here. Chucking, chucking, chucking, zero passes, one pass. Not even close on half of them. Christie has potential I guess...

***OFFICIAL IOWA AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

This Athletic department would never do something like that. "IF" the gophers really want a chance at making the dance, tonight is a game you have to win. Home games against teams you would consider equal or lesser than yourself flat out have to be win. Win and keep it going, lose and I'll...

    Who will replace Saban?

You are probably right, and I know he's a good coach. I just don't care for blue blood programs. Most got that way by bending the rules.

At 3-1, are the Gophers good, does the B1G stink, or is it a little of both?

Guys that don't turn the ball over. Take good shots. Run the offense. Aren't chuckers. Bobby J, Ariel McDonald, Eric Harris are three that come to mind off the top of my head that were MN gophers.

    A season on the brink

Quite possibly the greatest sports quote of all time.

    Who will replace Saban?

It doesn't matter. Hire a golden retriever and they will still win. Cheated for multiple decades and still do. NIL coming out their behinders. Jimmys and Joes...

    Oregon has Minnesota needs

Glenn went to Mankato, lives there and donates to MSU-M. The basketball arena is literally called: The "Taylor Center".

    Non Revenue Generating Sports

It's possible and I am not backing this up with any facts and I will concede that. I just know that whenever there is a regional or frozen four out east there are like 100-200 people in the stands even when it's being played in some of the team's backyards.

At 3-1, are the Gophers good, does the B1G stink, or is it a little of both?

Yep, 20% would account for that. Hawkins, Christie, Mitchel. That is the difference. Guard play is what makes teams go. Why do you think Wisconsin is always good? They recruit SMART guards that defend, don't turn it over and can make open shots. Usually they aren't even very good athletes...

At 3-1, are the Gophers good, does the B1G stink, or is it a little of both?

Not no chance, but less than 20%. They haven't had a guard that is better than anything Mankato state has had under Ben until this year. It makes all the difference. I suppose Willis and Cooper, but I would argue those guys couldn't hold this current backcourt's jockstraps.

Baseball and softball also have tons of travel. They are on a plane every weekend until at least April.

    Non Revenue Generating Sports

This is so just not true. Travel, coaching salaries, trainers, strength and conditioning, etc. It costs plenty to run any college program. Do you think track brings in any revenue? I would guess they bring in under 10k per year. Probably even less.
