***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT NORTHWESTERN IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Joke game. Like I said earlier team gave up after the Illinois game. Better season than last year but a terrible finish for sure.

***OFFICIAL INDIANA AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Seasons over just like I stated when they lost to Illinois. It appears the team has given up. Lucky to beat a brutal Penn State team and now this embarrassment. Weakling Wednesday here we come

Coyle: "If everybody comes back we'll be a top-25 team preseason next year"

Could be. He knows if we lose any of all of those considering it's over for another 5 years...

    Christie going pro?

Coffey, Oturo were the 2 most recent that I remember. If both had stayed, Pitino would still be here.

Coyle: "If everybody comes back we'll be a top-25 team preseason next year"

Agreed, this is why when people call that kind of thing happening a success for the program I don't know what the hell they are talking about. Leaving to be a first round NBA draft pick is one thing. Leaving for Euro leagues, G leagues and maybes is quite another.

    Christie going pro?

How many fringies do the sconnies lose per year? How about the other top teams in our conference? Anytime we get someone worth a salt here they bolt for Euro league, etc. I get it, they can make money there but this doesn't happen as often everywhere else as it does here. Also, I am not going...

    Christie going pro?

No it isn't. It's a failure 100%. Get him to stay whatever it takes. I don't think he is ready, but I'm not an NBA draft guru either. Can't constantly lose whatever talent you have that has a good season every year unless you are able to reload fast. At the U that is nearly impossible.

Coyle: "If everybody comes back we'll be a top-25 team preseason next year"

This would be par for the course for this program to have those guys leave. Minnesota has to have the most college bball players leave to go to Europe or non-NBA places I've ever seen. Lose those three and it will be over with fast and back down to the bottom...

Coyle: "If everybody comes back we'll be a top-25 team preseason next year"

Need to get into a early season tournament. That is something that is a must. I am also not sure why they've never scheduled some of the closer power 5 teams. We should be playing Iowa State every season, Marquette, Butler, Notre Dame, etc.

Yes. Put it this way. Ohio State has a better chance to get in the dance than we do. It's mainly because we didn't beat anyone. We haven't. Nebraska, NWern, MSU. That is it. Playing them(Purdue, Iowa, Wisconsin, Illinois) tough doesn't get you anywhere.

    Gopher Softball 2024

Exactly, high school doesn't mean anything. I was basing my opinion on watching them play travel ball and talking to the kids that have faced them. PS Chloe is lighting it up at Wichita State.

    Gopher Softball 2024

Hard to say but only one of those you just listed came out of MN. It's tough. Just like any sport to compete at the D1 level with mainly MN players. The only one where MN ranks highly with power 5 players would be mens bball. It's just too cold here to consistently produce top talent...

Let me tell you that as a parent of a college athelete, it isn't just the NCAA men's basketball selection committee. It is like this in every sport at every level in college. I honestly don't know how else they would do it. Point is, if you want to be in ANY NCAA tourney at the end of the year...

Michigan State has proven time and again that it doesn't matter if you beat good teams in non-conference. Just that you schedule them and steal 1 maybe 2 of them.

See "All Things Championship Week" . ...

Correct and the Gophers just didn't really have any or at least many good wins in conference. But as it pertains to the noncon schedule, I will say that playing a cupcake with frosting on top or just a cupcake with sprinkles makes no difference IMO. All are cupcakes. Mid majors that finish in...

Keep coach Izzo employed. They are an automatic if they are close IMO and can and will leapfrog teams when it comes down to it.

Even with poor non-conference slate, 21 wins should get the Gophers a ticket to the Madness

This season is just too bad for our guys. They are a pretty good team and close to deserving I think of a bid or at least some consideration. The Iowa, Wisconsin and Missouri losses are what is going to kill them. That and the fact that over half of the Big Ten is bad didnt' give them many...

    All Things Turd Sandwiches

I'm with you. But the past 10 years has seen many more mid majors invited. Gophers IMO are as good as any team that is going to sit in that 8-13 seed range. But they won't make it unless they win the BTT. Part of that is playing a non-con full of patsies and part of it is not beating any good...

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT ILLINOIS IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Ok. Making the dance is what I was talking about. Yes it would be nice to be over .500 in BT. NIT or moral victories really isn’t what I’m interested in.

Dang. Good game but they couldn’t figure out how to guard these guys. Season is over now IMO, short of winning the BT Tourney
