If they weren't our rival, I would really feel bad for Wisconsin. Instead, I will just smile and laugh.
Miami OH - Win
Middle Tennessee - Win
At Alabama- Loss
Maryland- Win
At Michigan Loss
Iowa - I would guess Loss
Ohio State - Loss
At Oregon - Loss
Washington - I would guess win?
At Indiana -...
You forgot Kill. I like your list... I would put Kill second I think.
In my lifetime and following Gopher Football back to the early 90s...
1) Fleck
2) Kill
3) Mason
4) Brewster
5) Wacker
Mason & Kill are interchangeable. Both walked into hard positions and made the program respectable.
I am so intrigued by this decision. Does anyone know why he decided not to go to CDH? Who was interested in the Lakeville South position?
My limited sources in Lakeville say that he has been looking at moving into administration for a while and CDH was the best position to do both - admin and...
Unless they move the playoff start date up closer to the end of the regular season I don't know if there is a distinct advantage to having a bye. It is hard to play a football game with nearly a month break.
If you are right, which I have no reason to doubt you, the actual extension is the opposite of committing to Fickell. Publicly, fans will say "why would they do that?" In truth, the extension may make it easier to fire him after the season.
I see what you are saying.
My pipe dream is that Lore/A Rod bring in the Wilf's and they work out a deal to build an arena down in Eagan around the Vikings facility. I know it is a long shot, but...
True, multi-use would be a positive, but the culture of Austin, Texas is different than Minneapolis. Not in a good way or bad way. They have a strong music culture - South x Southwest, 6th Street is a poor man's Broadway, Rainey Street District, etc. Austin now hosts the Country Music Awards at...
I was at the Moody Center this winter for a game. It was a fine place to watch basketball but don't be confused... it isn't a basketball arena. It was funded by mostly by Live Nation in exchange for keeping the income from non-UT events like concerts, rodeos, etc for the next 35 years.
The...
I am not in the college coaching business but in my opinion there is so much movement with coaches that no one takes it personally. It is truly not a "what you know" business but a lot more "who you know."
Vast majority of coaches are on the move every couple of years.
Man, I am off today... I called the Raiders the Oakland Raiders and in another post I said the Vikings were still based out of Eden Prairie and not Eagan.
It is definitely a Monday!
If I were in coaching, I would do whatever it took to get to the NFL. You probably have slightly less job security but your job is way easier. You at least have some say on who is on your roster due to contracts. College kids can transfer at will, your constantly recruiting, and always working...
It's the coaching life....
It is easier when you don't take it personal...
Ohio State has lost their Defensive Coordinator (Lateral move to Penn State), Offensive Coordinator (Oakland Raiders), and Offensive Line Coach (Arizona Cardinals).
I think we all got a little delusional with Kill's...
I agree with you for sure. One of my biggest frustrations with certain teams (more of an NFL thing) but they fire coaches every year. Can't tell me that every coach the Raiders or Jets hire is an absolute trainwreck... I would think if given time to actually build a program and a team they could...
I am guessing we have different opinions on Miami... I put them in the same category as a school like Texas and Michigan. Both of those programs were down but you get the right coach and you are right in the thick of it.
I do think the biggest issue with Miami is their stadium issue. A lot of...
