***OFFICIAL MICHIGAN STATE AT MINNESOTA IZZO LONG POST-GAME HANDSHAKE WITH JOHNSON, POST-GAME PRAISE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

He left for the payday. Same for Payne, Hawkins and Christie (NBA). Hensley, too. (I think that's his name.) He had talent. We had to suffer through his freshman mistakes so somebody else could pay him.

***OFFICIAL MICHIGAN STATE AT MINNESOTA IZZO LONG POST-GAME HANDSHAKE WITH JOHNSON, POST-GAME PRAISE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Ben's quality recruits: Christie (NBA) Battle (NBA) Hawkins Garcia Payne Mike Mitchell Asuma Peyton Willis JOJ Sutherlin Fox Is this an all star cast? Outside of the two NBA players, no. Is it a respectable showing considering the lack of money to sign and retain players? Yes. If Payne and...

***OFFICIAL MICHIGAN STATE AT MINNESOTA IZZO LONG POST-GAME HANDSHAKE WITH JOHNSON, POST-GAME PRAISE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

The real coach has a .500 B1G record, which is good compared to his predecessors. He wins press conferences, he wins post games, he wins locker room dives and he kills at contract negotiations. He's mediocre in games that count, mediocre in attendance and has never sniffed a conference...

***OFFICIAL MICHIGAN STATE AT MINNESOTA IZZO LONG POST-GAME HANDSHAKE WITH JOHNSON, POST-GAME PRAISE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

He's not blameless and I've said it's time for him to go. However, a B1G program today without money is Bethune Cookman, no matter who is the coach. Every player in the country is a free agent every year and it takes money to get them and keep them. Unless Coyle raises significant money, he's...

***OFFICIAL MICHIGAN STATE AT MINNESOTA IZZO LONG POST-GAME HANDSHAKE WITH JOHNSON, POST-GAME PRAISE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

As I've said before, Ben was a reasonable risk at the time because he was the anti-Pitino. The biggest criticism leveled at Richard was that he couldn't/wouldn't recruit locally. He supposedly was extremely well regarded in the local HS and AAU communities. That was Ben's strength. He...

All Things 2024-25 Vikings Regular Season Thread

Don't know if it has been mentioned on this or any other thread but Greg Olsen is easily the best analyst in football. It used to be Romo but I think he's become a little bored or lazy. The cliches, platitudes and "excitability" have replaced insight and information. Olsen is straight up...

2024 Turkey of the Year Predictions

I know Reusse doesn't like to go the obvious route but it has to be Joe Pohlad with Coyle a very close first runner up.

'Great opportunity': Gophers hope to change narrative against tough teams in Orlando

We're going to hit 'em with a double whammy. We're disorganized and we lack talent.

All Things 2024-25 Vikings Regular Season Thread

The Packers play 17 home games a year. Every time I take a look, they are playing in GB.

That was a more dominant team and should have destroyed Daniel Jones. This team wins very, very ugly.

    Parker Jefferson commits!!!!

In the NIL era, does anybody know if the players start getting paid when they sign an letters of intent? If so, isn't that a binding contract?

They will be good at cutting down the net when they win the natty!

    Parker Jefferson commits!!!!

FWIW, based solely on YouTube highlights (100% shooting percentage) he's the most athletic recruit Johnson has signed.

Todd Alexander. Yup, a very good player.

If PJ Fleck can be moderately successful here, why can’t a basketball coach?

Somebody a few posts back said we could have kept Payne and Hawkins if we wanted to. Really? Did you have inside info? I thought Ben was worth the risk when he was hired. Under the old rules, I think he might have had a chance to build something. Unfortunately for him, a revolution has...

***OFFICIAL CLEVELAND STATE AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Agreed on the three best players. However, it doesn't matter when Ben is fired and who takes the job if the next coach isn't provided with a competitive NIL budget and plans for retrofitting Williams or building a new arena. It's a dead end job without those two components.
