Maybe a competent coach makes the portal easier, just saying.

No doubt if CBJ had kept is 23/24 roster together we wouldn't have needed Mitchel or Rigsby. The gophs were 1 game away from not making the B10 tournament and we wouldn't have made it without them. Sure, we could've had some different players other than those 2 but we didn't. They were...

Maybe a competent coach makes the portal easier, just saying.

Before his got injured and played in only 4 games in 24/25. F Mitchell and Rigsby both won B10 games for us this year. They improved significantly from the beginning of the season. Both would have been contributors this next season if still here.

In-coming Gophers signee Kai Shinholster reaffirms his commitment to Minnesota! He’s a 6-5 combo guard from Philly.

Gophs lost 2 to transfer, lost 2 previous commitments, kept 1 commitment, kept 2 from roster, added 1 transferee. The net change is zero. Now we have 4 players and need another 9 for the 13 available scholarships.

    Niko’s roster construction

Someone replied to my comment citing tampering wasn't worth the risk for attempting to recruit Winter from WI. I had never heard of tempering in the NIL/transfer era until the other poster mentioned it.

    Niko’s roster construction

Haven't read anything about "tampering" with regards to Winter or any player and haven't read much about Winter on the GHole either.

    Niko’s roster construction

Gopher's next roster, so far includes one half-time starter from last year who will certainly be a starter next season. Besides that, we have nothing worth talking about. Winter was a starter at WI and is 7 ft and can shoot 3's. Don't think he'd transfer to MN, but if he wanted to, he'd be a...

Skor North discusses Medved hire and the Coyle problem

Not everyone defends Coyle, including me. And Coyle wasn't the first athletic director that failed in hiring coaches. The Pitino hire was terrible too.

Shama on Medved: There’s reason to believe he’s the best since the Clem Haskins era of 1986-1999.

Be tough to get the gopher attendance back. Entire generation has passed since they were competitive.

I don't understand how you could agree with the UofM hiring Pitino and CBJ with their experience.

What was the attendance during Clem's tenure? I had season tickets beginning when Clem was hired and the Williams Arena capacity was 16k, at least thru 1992 when Williams was remodeled. There were many-many-many sellouts for b10 games.

Shama on Medved: There’s reason to believe he’s the best since the Clem Haskins era of 1986-1999.

You're ignoring MSU, WI and Purdue's current head coaches were assistants at the schools before being hired as the head coach following head coaches that had been at those schools for many years. Are you advocating that Northwestern is an example of what other B10 schools should do when hiring...

Shama on Medved: There’s reason to believe he’s the best since the Clem Haskins era of 1986-1999.

Please, he was head coach of Florida International. A big10 team hiring Pitino after 1 year head coaching experience at FL International is basically saying Pitino's resume was the only one available. Reaching for a 1-year coach from conference usa for a b10 job is only slightly better than...

Three-star Minnesota signee Jacob Ross has requested his release from his National Letter of Intent and will reopen his recruitment

What did CBJ tell him during recruiting? You'll be starting, 6th man, 20 minutes per game. It can't be much different between CBJ and Medved for a 6-6 3-star recruit.

Shama on Medved: There’s reason to believe he’s the best since the Clem Haskins era of 1986-1999.

Can't believe the athletic department hired 2 guys with no experience with 2 different athletic directors. It would be similar to hiring a salesperson with no experience in sales or the product and wonder why they weren't successful, then fire him and hire another guy with no experience in...

Shama on Medved: There’s reason to believe he’s the best since the Clem Haskins era of 1986-1999.

Pitino inherited some good players and did recruit some impressive players himself. After 8 years Coyle decided to pull the plug. Why he did it after 8 years with Pitino having gained a plethora of experience and turned around and basically started over made no sense. On top of that, if...

Done Deal! - MINNESOTA HIRES NIKO MEDVED!!

Coyle's job is to hire the best coach, and he failed in 2020 regardless of the administration's undocumented requirements and obstacles. Medved was towards the top of the list in 2020 too. Still think Coyle failed with CBJ hire in 2020 and with the L Whalen on the woman's side. Coyle needs to...

Is Gophers basketball really one of the toughest jobs in the country? | BMTN video

If the weather and the ability to drive to any "season" in 2 hours was the reason for choosing a college to play basketball, then Dutcher and SDSU should be getting the best recruits in the country. MN, IA, WI, NE, MSU, MU all have winter. If the team wins the players will come and the coach is...
