    The NIL Collective: Minnesota

IMO, the only way MN basketball gets and sustains a large steady income stream is to convert a lot of MN bb supporters to pledge a % of their life insurance to the “MN Gopher Basketball Trust” which would manage the money in interest-bearing accts for distribution. Large chunks of money gained...

    Isaac Asuma is staying HOME!

Yesssss! We were Class A- Ely, Orr, and Chisholm were always good. Chisholm had legendary coach MacDonald with buzz cut, and I played well against his son who went on to South Dakota St. I believe. Our team stunk, were poorly coached, but we played different sports every season with varying...

Who will have a better career? Medved at Minnesota or McCollum at Iowa?

The MN tide of beating Iowa teams in all sports has turned in our favor.

    Niko’s roster construction

Watched the press conference, and would probably give it a "7". Didn't knock it out of the park or energize the room very much, but also said the required things and answered questions honestly without cliche. He seemed very genuine and settled into it as the questioning continued. Nice nod...

Done Deal! - MINNESOTA HIRES NIKO MEDVED!!

100% correct. I've been around long enough to see how it can be (Dutcher/McHale/Thompson/Saunders), and it can be again. Every year recently it seems like there has always been a built in excuse to not thrive. In 2025-26 having the money coming from an elite conference and expanded Big Ten...

    Former Gophers in Tourney

Thiam was energetic, but looked to score every time he touched the ball. Literally, every time.

The Case for Niko (aka Niko’s Case)

Nice find. Must have been updated/corrected as wiki lists Nov. 22, 1894 Drexel Inst. of Art, Science, Industry vs. Temple College as first college game. First 5 on 5 game Univ. Chicago vs. Univ. Iowa in Iowa City Jan. 18, 1896 OR 1897 Yale vs Penn because the Iowa team wasn't representative...

    Drake wins. Next UMN Coach?

Its funny how the WNBA loses $40-50 million a year, funded by the NBA who has never seen a profit from their funding, yet there is no interest in building college bb monetarily from any NBA team. TWolves could kick Gophers a few million bucks...;)

***OFFICIAL wisconsin AT MINNESOTA SENIOR NIGHT (JOHNSON'S LAST HOME GAME?) IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Hard to explain how peaceful I feel going into this game. Actually think it will be a highly competitive contest because MN has learned to front the low post (ie. Dick Bennett) so unlike last time, that pass will be highly contested by Frank the Tank et al. Mike Mitchell has been twitchy as...

***OFFICIAL wisconsin AT MINNESOTA SENIOR NIGHT (JOHNSON'S LAST HOME GAME?) IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I think the kick in the balls and Ohio St. fight was far more indignant. Just saying.

Yea, more like putting the toothpaste back in the tube!

Ben Johnson Post-Game Following Northwestern Loss

This season has once again become a long exercise in frustration, with moments of unbridled joy. The eye test from afar has MN transfers underperforming, inconsistent, and what was supposed to be a decent-to-good shooting team once again hasn't panned out. Not sure why CBJ hasn't given minutes...

Ben Johnson and the boys are kicking ass- who would have thunk it??

Before the West Coast games at USC/UCLA I was thinking the odds of winning both were about 10%. Losing both-30% Win one, lose one-60% Be happy people!

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT UCLA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Very gritty, unexpected win mirroring the USC game. Just fantastic to beat UCLA on their home court AND get to listen to Cronin's petulance, passive aggressive attacks on his team and fans. As a MN fan, you have to enjoy these rock fight wins and accept the crushing off night losses. Schedule...

Will keep an eye on Fletcher Loyer and Purdue/MSU before Gopher game. :)

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT UCLA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

After seeing Lavin cry, would love nothing more than to see an unpopular Cronin meltdown blaming everyone else vs UCLA.

Reusse: Unlike the Gophers’ coaching situation, the solution for Williams Arena is simple: Blow up The Barn

Agree. I would hate to see the Barn "blown up" and replaced by a new facility. Imagine what could be done with that solid brick shithouse bldg (a good thing) if the renovation involved a complete or near complete internal demolition. Would cost a few seats which is fine, but if everything was...

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT PENN STATE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Yes, winning! Most kids are recruited based on offensive skills and being a selfless teammate. Offensive skills are more valued/rare, while defending is more about effort and willingness to learn. Thus, a defender can be “made” but its harder to develop offensive ability/shooting. Agree?

STrib: Gophers coach Ben Johnson searches for answers to better backcourt play

Agree 100%, esp with a long JOJ rotating. Great to think of "what ifs", but that Idiot Wind has blown through a lot of our teeth on this board. :(

***OFFICIAL MINNESOTA AT PENN STATE IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

I would like to see more guys in the rotation, but Rigsby is a defensive liability. Kind of floats around like Peter Pan.
