    Gophers Women's Hockey 2024-25 Season

Another good Gopher game and a 5 -2 win over Minnesota State. Good team effort and some new players are finding their groove. Josefin Bouveng got a hat trick! Go Gophers.

Gophers got an impressive 8-3 win over Minnesota State. They scored two goals in the first period and kept the peddle down and scored 3 goals in both the second and third periods. Eight players had multiple points. Great team effort. Go Gophers! Get another win today.

    Gophers Women's Hockey 2024-25 Season

Gophers got the win (4 - 2) against the St. Thomas. They looked rather sluggish and the Tommies were hyped. Gophers had more penalties (6 -3) and more penalty minutes (15 - 6), including a major and an ejection. They couldn't get good momentum. Hopefully, they will raise their game tomorrow...

    B1G Game 5: Gophers host Rutgers (1-8-25)

Nice to get the win tonight. Although McKinney didn't play, some other players got extra playing time and opportunities. The play was a little ragged but bench players got good experience. Johnson had a great game and hopefully will be able to make more contributions in the rest of the games.

    Gophers Women's Hockey 2024-25 Season

Bad loss against Penn State. Hopefully, they have learned that you cannot take any team for granted. If you don't bring your "A" game, bad things can happen. If you don't play a full game, you can get in a hole that you cannot dig out of. I don't think that we have a crisis. They should...

December 2024 NCAA Women's Volleyball Portal

Gophers need some players to take their games to the next level like Hanson did. They are losing two All-conference players. If the team is going to move up the ranks next year, they need to find some All-conference caliber players.

    B1G Game 5: Gophers host Rutgers (1-8-25)

Gophers are in 5th place in the Big 18; i.e., Big Ten. They have really tough games ahead but have some doable games in-between so hopefully, they can avoid a big skid.

    B1G Game 4: Gophers host Illinois (1-5-25)

Big win. Defended the home court. Defeated a team that they need to beat to move up in the Big Ten. They seemed out of sorts most of the game but Illinois let them hang around. Then, they suddenly found their game in the last 3:30. They looked like a determined, poised, seasoned team during...

    Gophers Women's Hockey 2024-25 Season

Gophers bomb Brown 9-1. Lots of players scoring and getting assists. Best wishes for a great 2025 season. Go Gophers!

The NCAA is considering allowing five years of eligibility for players in all sports moving forward, per an NCAA official.

I like the traditional 4 years of eligibility unless an athlete is redshirted or injured. Five years of eligibility just fuels the transfer portal. Athletes can graduate in four years and sell their services in a so-called graduate year to whoever has the best offer. I question the value of...

    Gopher 2026 Volleyball Commitments

And, fans need to subscribe to several streaming services to see their teams and most of the games. The athletic departments and pro teams are putting revenue way ahead of their fan base. Streaming often is not as good as cable or satellite TV.

B1G Game 2: Gophers host Penn State (12-28-24)

The best all-around play that I have seen from a Gopher women's and men's team in a long time.

    Christmas Transfer Portal Wish List

Hoolie, I hope you have been good this year otherwise Santa can't grant your wish. Santa has seen the Gophers play and thinks that they also need a couple of outstanding defensive players, too. The teams in the elite eight receive, dig, pass, and claw for points exceptionally well. Santa will...

    Gopher 2026 Volleyball Commitments

Are they students or student-athletes? I sometimes have difficulty believing they are when I hear that a player has transferred three times. I think it would be great if the NCAA required schools to show how much scholarship and NIL monies that players receive. Then, we would have a better...

    Pathetic Schedule

The weak schedule is to insure that the Gophers have enough wins to get into post season play. Historically, 20 wins gets you into post season. We are half way there but where are the other 9 wins coming from? The lack of Away games so far will bite them in the butt. The seeding committee...

    Tough Question

Yes, those are the facts. It is not entirely Cook's fault or McCutcheon's fault. It's also Coyle's fault for not doing more with the NIL and our fault for not demanding more and supporting Dinkytown Athletes. The landscape has changed in women's volleyball. Prior to 2004, the west coast...

    Tough Question

From Gophersports.com (https://gophersports.com/news/2024/12/6/volleyball-gophers-kentucky-recap) Quote from Melani Shaffmaster after the Kentucky match: "I have been at Minnesota my whole time in college, so five whole years with Keegan and all the staff that's been changing," said senior...

NCAA Second Round: Gophers v Kentucky (12-5-24)

I will be happy with Hanson playing next year like she did this year. We need some other players to step their games up like Hanson did. We also need some great recruits or transfer players.

NCAA Second Round: Gophers v Kentucky (12-5-24)

Tough loss. They were overwhelmed by the occasion and a hot team in the first set. But, they fought hard the rest of the match. Close but no cigar. Interesting season with ups and downs. It will be interesting to see if the Gophers can pick up and develop players and have a better season...
