I think we're selling the Minnesota fanbase short with all of this talk about neutral fanbases. Everybody loves a winner (yes, even Minnesota fans)! The Gophers just haven't given many reasons to jump on the bandwagon over the past half-century.

To me, he shows the signs of a kid who wants to go to a school far away from Minnesota, but he would still be interested in attending some Gopher games for something to do. Maybe he also enjoys the extra attention he gets from fans when he is still uncommitted.

I would absolutely prefer to see them play against Alabama or Auburn. I don't see the logic in wanting to see them play against a lesser opponent. Maybe another question that could be asked is whether some of the posters that would like to see them play a weaker opponent, such as Tennessee...

I can't speak to his early days when he had less talent, but I agree with you. I think quite a few Gopher fans would be very upset with Pitino if they lost to SFA.
