***OFFICIAL PENN ST AT MINNESOTA IN-GAME THREAD!!!***

Did we even lose if this means PSU stays top 75 in the NET and we keep a Q1 win?!?!

Neal: Moving forward with Ben Johnson is the only option for Gophers men’s basketball

I'm just saying, beating your chest for being mediocre, and what got the previous coach fired, isn't exactly greatness.

Neal: Moving forward with Ben Johnson is the only option for Gophers men’s basketball

Not really other than he lost his two best returning players to the portal. I'd guess teams like UNLV, San Diego State, Boise State, Nevada, Colorado State, Utah State and New Mexico are all probably similar. I don't think any of them have what I would consider "good" NIL.

Neal: Moving forward with Ben Johnson is the only option for Gophers men’s basketball

Pitino is currently dealing with NIL at New Mexico. Their attrition is very similar to ours. Lost two important players to the portal, another to graduation (instead of the NBA) and he's got them rolling again.

Neal: Moving forward with Ben Johnson is the only option for Gophers men’s basketball

Sure, but Pitino had a much more challenging OOC schedule in 2019-2020. And in his last year only played 7 total OOC games. That 2020 team is a lot better than this team and last year's team, unfortunately.

Neal: Moving forward with Ben Johnson is the only option for Gophers men’s basketball

It'd be great if we finished 4-1 or 3-2 which means we won more games than we lost. However, in the grand scheme of things, this team will be no different than last years team, or the year that got Pitino fired. Pending what happens in the B1GT.

Neal: Moving forward with Ben Johnson is the only option for Gophers men’s basketball

You know for certain that if we hire a new coach we're going to continue to stink? Isn't the buyout like $2.93 million? That's pretty insignificant.

Those coaches are also almost 80. Programs like Vandy, West Virginia, Miss St, Missouri, Louisville etc...all seem to be doing pretty good with bringing in a mid major coach. Sure Louisville has NIL resources, but they had them under the old coach too, he just flat out sucked. There are also...

Neal: Moving forward with Ben Johnson is the only option for Gophers men’s basketball

Isn't that better than keeping a coach who hasn't produced a top 75 team (we'll see what happens this year)?

Neal: Moving forward with Ben Johnson is the only option for Gophers men’s basketball

Yep, pretty much this. Programs like FSU (Leonard Hamilton), Miami (Larranaga), and Virginia Tech (Buzz Williams) were all pretty much after thought programs. Buzz had VT in the NIT in year 2, NCAA's in year 3 and they made 5 straight tournaments (including a S16), despite him leaving after...

You want a "magic number" for Gophers to hear name called on Selection Sunday? Go with 22

Need a combo of 7 wins IMO. It'll be interesting if we do close good enough down the stretch and finish 8/9 in the B1G because we won't have an extra game if we were the 10 seed. Our paths: Finish 5-0, win the 8/9 or 7/10 game (if we're the 7 seed) beat the 1 or 2 seed. Finish 4-1. Likely...

Yes, we are better with him, for sure. Just not demonstrably enough better. In the games he missed we ranked 130th in T-Rank. Since he came back we are 78th. Also, our two best OOC wins were without him.

You want a "magic number" for Gophers to hear name called on Selection Sunday? Go with 22

My guess is the committee won't factor in Mitchell's absence at all. We are only 10-9 with him. And our best OOC win (Yale) we got without him. The data isn't skewed too much one way or another for it to really be a factor. Obviously would have liked to have had him for those games, but I don't...

You want a "magic number" for Gophers to hear name called on Selection Sunday? Go with 22

I would say the likelihood of both PSU and Oregon ending up as Q1 wins are very unlikely. Especially given how PSU is playing down the stretch. I'd also say at 18-13, we won't be particularly close to being in, and would probably have to win the B1GT to get in. Our OOC SOS is a huge red flag on...

Dawson Garcia - Has he become one of the best in the Country?

He's been great, but I'm not sure I see him getting drafted. Doesn't mean he won't end up on an NBA roster at some point, but the draft is all about potential and he'll be 24 by the start of next season.

Road to Selection Sunday: Latest Field of 68 Points Toward Another "Weak" Bubble Next Month

For us to have a chance, we'd need to win out and likely win 2 games in the B1GT. We still aren't all that close because of loss accumulation and our OOC SOS and overall OOC performance. The resume would look a lot better had we not blown the Wichita State game and simply played Florida, even...

26/33 from the FT line in LA. Any chance we can relocate The Barn to Southern California?

    Lu'Cye Patterson

Since Jan 1(not including last night), he's been pretty good. Shooting 44.4% from the floor and 37.5% from 3. Avg 14, 4 and 3. He was brutal in the non conference though. I don't think it's a coincidence our improvement as a team coincides with him playing better. I never thought he was as bad...
