NIKO Has Raised More NIL Money than ALL of Last Year

Bigger question will be whether he can sustain after what is looking like it's going to be a rough transition year.

Will you still be invested at the same level of fandom for men’s college hoops in the future as you are currently, based on all the changes now??

If you’re on a fan forums you’re already someone who follows things closer than the majority of people. If the Gophers get to be competitive again, start getting some votes for the top 25, we’re all going to be back to following any and everything. Winning cures all, I know I wouldn’t care 😅

    Utah to B1G?

With the crazy money BYU is throwing around and them having a model that keeps them competitive in the big two sports every year, feel like that would be the better direction to go than UofU.

All Things Gophers Coaching Search Thread (rumors, tweets, tid-bits and more)

https://x.com/MikeAsti11/status/1903277713609150466 Besides, if the U loses out on an alum from right down the street to a program in an inferior conference when all the money now is going to the top two, the basketball program is hopeless. Whether this gets done or not will shape whether the U...

Analysis: Can the next Gophers men’s basketball coach sell himself to the state of Minnesota like P.J. Fleck?

“At the end of the day, when you’re winning games, people want to be a part of that,” Coyle said. It begins and ends with that. PJ finished in the top 10 and locals have been lining up ever since. There’s been such an emphasis on bringing someone in who can keep local players home out of the...

ESPN's Jeff Borzello: "As of time of publish, it seems Ben Johnson is likely to get another year at Minnesota."

I would think this is a reflection of them not having the money to attract the quality of coach they want as much as anything. The reasons for firing him are obvious, that goes without saying. In the long run, change for change's sake doesn't benefit you either, just puts you on the hook for 4-5...

Seth Davis: Ben Johnson has done an incredible job with this team. One of the elite coaches in one of the toughest jobs in America.

    There’s a trend developing here https://awfulannouncing.com/college-basketball/jon-rothstein-doug-gottlieb-another-season-green-bay.html

The Arizona Cardinals are expected to hire University of Minnesota’s Winston DeLattiboudere as their new defensive line coach...

No matter how you slice it, the importance of having NFL experience on your resume as a coach can’t be understated. I think Winston ends up back in college in some capacity in the not too distant future. Like PJ, his energy and seemingly his motivation to coach sound like someone who is more...

    Amir dropping them dead

Amir’s having a great season and just had 24 against the champs. It’s crazy how little talk there’s been about him on here. A real bright spot in some pretty dark days for the program while he was here and after.

Shama: If there is a change in Golden Gophers basketball head coaches after this season, St. Thomas’ John Tauer should be a level one candidate.

I'm good on having any skunks coach the Gophers, plenty of fish in the sea. Tauer being a Tommie lifer and building that program up is a better story anyway. Can't afford to roll the dice again with the basketball program.

Time to make a call to Bryce Drew!

*Community notes* Last time Bryce Drew was in a power conference, he lost 20 straight games to end his tenure at Vanderbilt. If we were to retread, I'd much rather the U go after the likes of Chris Mack, Will Wade, Archie Miller and so on.

Cam Christie is entering the Transfer Portal

This goes beyond Christie but the Wolves are very likely to add a shooter this offseason that's probably not going to be much of a defender because they can't afford a 3 and D guy. Christie could carve out a career for himself as a specialist shooter/scorer off the bench. You just never know but...

Cam Christie is entering the Transfer Portal

Christie wouldn't have any impact on those guys, have to imagine he'd be viewed as a 1-2 year project so he'd probably spend a good amount of time in the G League the first year or so. NAW is one of my favorite players on the team but they're going to have a decision to make on him after next...

Cam Christie is entering the Transfer Portal

It's really weird, people did the same with Amir and look where he is now, carved out a role for himself on a playoff team. It may be a similar slow build for Christie but he has the raw tools to one day stick in the league. I'd like to see the Wolves draft him in the second round, lord knows...

Does Ben Johnson have any defenders left?

The guys transferring out of Wisconsin show you that it isn't about winning anymore so you have to wonder, who could actually put together a consistent program here? Musselman would not have the $$$ to make things work here, people mention Medved but he looks to be on the downslide at CSU after...

Pharrel Payne visiting Indiana this week.

Ah yes, the old, if you don’t like it, leave it argument. People do not have to leave their place of employment to ask for better conditions or compensation. I’m not sure why people embrace this train of thought, we don’t have to polish a turd particularly as profits sky rocket. Universities...

Pharrel Payne visiting Indiana this week.

Have known a few guys that played D1 and the time commitments make it difficult to pursue anything more if you want any chance at playing professionally. This stopped being about education when the TV contracts came into play with advertising coming with it. Combine that with putting games on in...

Cam Christie declares for NBA (while maintaining college eligibility)

Don't think he's like Amir at all, Coffey wasn't half the shooter Christie is for one. Coffey was much more of a slasher while Christie's more of a natural scorer, better handle. Someone like a Norman Powell. His game should translate pretty well to the NBA, just comes down to whether he can...

    Official March Madness Thread

It's going to be an uphill battle for the Midwest Big Ten teams to ever get to this level UCONN, Villanova under Jay Wright and some of the elite teams down south are at. Purdue's an exceptional developmental program, likely a step beyond where we can ever expect our program to get to due to...
