    The Band Pit

I think that there are different versions of OCD. Looks like you might have a touch of one of them. I am pretty sure that I have one also.

So do we love PJ again?

I am all in on PJ! I just hope that he doesn’t become really dumb or conservative between now and Saturday night. I may change my mind 😜.

    Transfer QB for 2025

Wee seem very welcoming to a transfer QB as long as they ply well for us. Also if some transfers awy from us they become a bad guy. Kind of like professional wrestling, guys can go from a bad guy to a good guy quickly, and visa versa. I used to think that I was more sophisticated than a pro...

Quarterback sneak. One thing I don't understand

I've thought about this. My guess is that the chip would quickly be damaged by kicking, the ball hitting the ground and/or palyers diving for fumbles, etc.

Quarterback sneak. One thing I don't understand

Yes, the sneak does work sometimes, and there are risks with allowing the play to develop. What I like the best is to do what Holtz did. Use the triple option near the goal line, The wishbone is a very good goal line offense, and the QB does not need to be a great runner, just be able to make a...

Quarterback sneak. One thing I don't understand

Not a fan of the QB sneak near the goal line. It often comes down to an official's decision after a big pile-up and video review. Have a RB blast across the line and leave no freaking doubt. I like the sneak a lot more when used farther from the goal line. Yes, it worked, this time...

    Transfer QB for 2025

If a college QB thinks that his coach is not continually looking for someone to replace him, he needs to have a little chat with some former college QBs. That's the nature of the business.

UCLA has played a really tough schedule

Fair enough. Thanks for looking this up. One loss after a big upset win that is etched in my mind was our win over #1 Michigan in 1977 (OK that is WAAAYYYYY back). I remember my dad saying, "Boy will they be flat next week in Indiana." We lost that next game against an inferior opponent...

UCLA has played a really tough schedule

Of course, it is not a scientific observation. And I hope that I am wrong.

UCLA has played a really tough schedule

This will not be an easy game. IIRC we do not have a strong record in games after a big upset win. Go Gophers!

Describe the Gophers win over USC in 1 sentence

Suddenly the remainder of the schedule does not look so daunting.

Gopher offensive line: what the stats say

The issues are even more amplified by Minnesota’s issues upfront, but pressures and sacks are just as much on the quarterback as the offensive line. Not sure about the above. True, an elusive QB and/or one who has great pocket presence is hard to pressure or sack, but Brosmer is consistently...

Why can’t we run the ball?

    Your points are well-taken.

Cool event in Byron / Casey O’Obrien

Agree. This is not the Byron that my mom grew up in.

How would you try and beat USC?

Back in the 1970's or early '80's a high school team in SE Minn (Chatfield?) used 12 men on defense for an entire game. Neither the refs or coaches noticed it until the offending team's coach watched the films early the next week. The joke was that the team still lost with 12 on D!

Why can’t we run the ball?

    1) IMHO center is probably the most important position on the OL, at least in terms or making line calls, et. 2) as I have written elsewhere, I don't think that Taylor is at 100% my 2 cents

Big Ten to modify officiating on onside kicks.

I was thinking the same thing, but we will never know.

Big Ten to modify officiating on onside kicks.

I'm not blaming the loss on the refs. Who knows what would have happened in the next few plays. There is no guarantee that we would have made a field goal or scored a TD. But at that point in the game, to make a questionable call, which denys the players a chance to determine the winner on the...
